Great talent with a beautiful style. The mark against him is a lot of his opponents were nondescript and there were numerous good fighters in and around his division that he could have faced like Carbajal, Johnson and Arbachakov.

I think the reason they get more attention is they fought in glamorous divisions against household names while Lopez was in a division that's barely even an afterthought in terms of the attention it gets. How many strawweight champions can you name?

One of the best technical punchers' you'll ever see. Very patient in terms of setting up his shots. Off the charts power in his weights class with power in both hands, and punch variety ( Hook, cross, uppercut )

I don't always watch straw weight boxing, but when I do it's for a special talent like Lopez.

I think it was Al Bernstein who had him in his top 10 p4p all time. Not sure if we should be that generous, but the man had an amazing career.

Did he dare to be great?

Dominated a weak division. For that he deserves a lot of credit.

Given some of the names a couple of divisions north he could have tested himself at a higher level and risked his health for the sake of this conversation between men who will never meet on a website.

I really didn't intend on being sarcastic then, just kinda happened.

    Go figure.

    Hugely overrated.

    But undoubtedly very very special.
