Ive never really understood how they rank and how many there are The European and British titles seem to be held in pretty high regard but how are their US conterpart's seen in terms of legitimacy?
Actually these titles don't mean much. They are constantly awarded and more of them come around all the time. It's almost like every fighter has at least one of them. Every state has a title too like the Philidelphia state title that was awarded to Bryant Jennings after he beat Maurice Byarm. These titles are only important to the fighters I guess. Interesting I suppose, maybe having a legitimate American title will rejuvenate boxing more in the US
It's not as easy as Europe. England has the BBBofC and Europe has the EBU. The US has a few states with no athletic commission, or one that doesn't really follow or even have good protocols for boxing, or is just absolutely terrible. They have no budgets and then you have the minor titles the sanctioning bodies that are even more confusing because they go by affiliation. It'd possibly make sense to have state/regional/national titles but..you know. can't have it make sense.
They are virtually meaningless now. All they are used for is establishing rankings for the sanctioning mobsters.
