Here in Denmark we only have PPV when Mikkel Kessler fight and they coast about 100$. No matter who he fights. Yep 100$. But how does the concept works in the United States? I read something about that the reason Broner vs. Maidana is on PPVis because Showtime did not have enought money to pay the fighters. Does Showtime not pay the fighters wage when it is on PPV?
no the PPV buyers do. Showtime just takes a cut and provides some of the marketing... They also don't have to make room in their schedule on saturday night.
Thanks alot. But why does people say that Showtime lost money on Mayweathers last fight. And what about all that with Mayweathers garanted purse on 41 mil $?
$100 American? :scaredas: Or just a hundred krones? Because that is eighteen bucks, which is really not bad.
His guarantee was higher for Alvarez, hence 41m. His base guarantee for his Showtime deal is 32m. About half the revenue goes to the cable providers like Time Warner, Comcast, etc. So the pot is half the total revenue, and they need 64m in PPV revenue to break even just on Floyd purse, and there's more purses to pay and promotional costs. This is all exceptional since it's usually the promoter that makes the guarantee, not the network. However this comes from a separate PPV budget and may not impact this years regular boxing budget. More likely they're having issues supporting the whole GBP roster. For example they had to squeeze in Broner Paulie, which was supposed to be on HBO and very expensive at 2.5m in main event purse. You can do a lot with 2.5m.
PPV in the states is like 45 dollars 55 for HD or 75 for Floyd PPV provider gets 50%, so say Money vs Canelo makes 2 million buys at 75 dollars per ppv, thats 150 million dollars made + 75 million of that goes to the PPV provider, Floyd gets the majority of the remaining 75 million.
showtime pays the promoter who then pays the fighter. money splits depends on the contracts between the fighter, promoter and network.
In addition to that the subscriptions for Showtime increase as it becomes the major boxing network so there is more revenue outside of the actual events. :good
In Australia most PPV fights are $30 or $40 that includes Mayweather fights. In Australia we had to pay $30 to see GGG v Macklin and they are doing Chavez Jnr v Vera for $30. Mundine v Mosley is $50 on PPV
Yeah it really is. And the undercard is sure sh1t. Only with danish figthers that are no names. But lucky for us, we get all the fight fights from the US for free Well for god reason I have never bought a Kessler PPV. 500 kroner is to much.
You guys in Australia may get paid higher wages but holy **** you sure are made to pay for EVERYTHING.
