Haye will absolutely destroy Fury. Cunningham nearly KTFO Fury. Gimmee a break. The guy is colorful, but not a top tier heavyweight
Cummingham didn't nearly ktfo fury, he knocked him down but didn't hurt fury at all. Watch the fight again, fury got up, recovered and hunted cunningham down until he didn't want any more of the fight. You could see how fury completely killed cunninghams spirit after recovering from the knockdown.
This ringside episode is quality, some funny, entertaining stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-ywv68qy5w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWLKTAdXpWM
High workrate. Decent power. Doesn't really have one punch power, but he'll hurt you via accumulation. Decent speed for his size. Poor/average chin and defence. Tends to fight inside far, far more often than he should. Has learned that using his bulk will tire out smaller, quicker opponents. Likes to showboat. Is vulnerable when doing so as his reflexes aren't great. Likes to move around the ring far more than most heavyweights. Likes to switch stances, but is vulnerable when he's southpaw.
Liked the post above, very good points, I think he has learnt to use his bulk. He needs to bully haye inside up close, but the key is he has to walk haye back inside, push him back and tire him, the accumulation will have an effect on haye in later rounds
His chin might not be the greatest but he gets up off the canvas and finds a way to win. I think Haye will beat him but I do think he's underrated.
I agree with this. I'd say there's an 80% chance that David Haye will knock Fury out. But... Tyson Fury has an above-average ring IQ which compensates for his lack of speed. You can never count him out. Haye is the best HW other than Wlad. If Fury does manage to outbox David Haye, then you'll know that you're looking at the next HW champion.
He's big and strong and has decent power. His jab is pretty good and when he uses his height and jab he can be quite effective against smaller men. But his defence is very poor, too easy too hit. He's ungainly, has poor balance and sometimes looks uncoordinated as proven by the famous clip of him hitting himself in the face. He showed in the Cunningham fight he could be easily drawn or forced out of his style and made to brawl which doesn't bode well for his next fight. He's better than he was and has reached a level through hard work I never thought I'd see him at. If this was a better era he would be seen as another Lou Saverese or at best a McCline but with little competition out there he's been allowed been to become a serious contender. Haye will undoubtedly knock him out.
So you're basing your hypothesis about him beating Haye on one fight? Not only that but a fight where he was pretty awful. That's pretty ******ed. I think that Fury is entertaining if a bit full of himself. But make no mistake, he's getting KTFO when he fights Haye. Fury was put down hard against two light punchers in Pajkic and Cunningham. Haye brings a lot more power to the table and is way quicker than Fury. But in terms of Fury's attributes. He's got a decent jab, and he can be deceptively quick when delivering it. He's fairly clumsy. But not massively considering his size. He's shown the will to win whilst getting up off of the canvas. Suggesting decent heart. He's pretty strong due to his size, but his KO% should be higher for a man of his size. But he has a tendency to slap a bit which brings it down a little. He has pretty good stamina nowadays. Though it depends what shape he comes in at. That said judging on his condition over his last few fights this shouldn't be a worry. But his defence is poor. He's very open to the big right hand that Haye will be throwing. This fight can end one of two ways. Either Haye comes out gunning from the start and catches Fury with a big right hand or Fury will get caught coming in by a fast hard counter (likely a hook followed by an uppercut) and will be taking an early nap :dead. My prediction: Haye by KO within 4 rounds.
Fury, with the exception of the Johnson fight, finds it difficult to make the most of his physical advantages, i.e. using the jab effectively and maintaining distance. He's far too easy to get inside of. His defence to the looping right-hand is non-existent. It's a punch that a top fighter shouldn't really get caught with but his head seems to be magnet for it. He has size and a real fighting heart but I don't rate him very highly. The skill discrepancy between him and Haye is fairly substantial. I think Haye will be able to land said right-hand fairly easily and Fury gets bounced off the canvas a few times before the ref stops it.
Haye is nowhere near the second best HW. I think Tony Thmpson would knock him the f#ck out, as would Vitali. Haye is a p@ssy but has more than enough power to easily KTFO Fury.
Thompson was hurt by david ****ing price, you think he would be able to cope with hayes power? If Price had a bit more ring smart and wasn't a ***** he'd have been able to close the show against thompson in their second fight. Don't get me wrong, thompson is a great figher who'd be able to outbox haye but wouldn't be able to withstand haye's onslaught. You need a young fighter in there to keep haye at bay with long jabs and good footwork. Fury for me ticks those boxes which is why I feel he'll win this fight and suprise a lot of people. Though I understand why haye is considered favourite for the fight but even as favourite it isn't going to be a walk in the park.
Haye is the obvious choice and favourite, but I fancy an upset. I have always questioned his credentials as a heavyweight, he has always been very selective with his opponents, after making so much noise, his voluntary defence choice of opponent when he was champion was embarrasing. We then had the fiasco and toe incident in Germany, retired then did not retire. In my opinion he has avoided most of the better fighters in the division such as povetkin, Chagaev, boystov and even an over aged Thompson. So I ask myself, who has ths man actually fought at heavyweight?. Fights once a year and then demands title shots. Ask for Fury, he is most certainly the hungrier man, obviously the younger and bigger man. Personally, I feel he has effected haye by the way he acts. Being around haye in the gym, he always was a large personality that enjoyed being the centre of attention. So it seems strange to seem him so submissive, maybe he has relaxed with age but I am not so sure. Haye has excellent attributes, with great speed and footwork and power. Fury must keep a high guard, switch his jabs between head and body with a high work rate, keep Haye guessing, throwing the straight right with power as Haye tries to slip. As the fight goes on his must use his size to tire haye out, the key is to push haye back and rough him up on the inside. I fancy Fury late on. I said this early, Haye is not naturally a big man, Gym size will never be a substitute for real size, he will get on suckered quicker than most people think.
