Bull. WBC belts are very important for Mexicans including Canelo. When flying home after the Cotto fight, he kept the belt on his knees.

He didn't duck people who he knew he could beat or at least go 12 rounds and rely on pocket judges. There is no way he goes 12 against Golovkin at 160, so he ducked.

I rank Canelo up there with Jack Mcall.

Let's wait and see whether he fights GGG. He may have dumped the belt to get a bigger cut of the money.

Bookies are ranking Canelo as the underdog but he wants to negotiate a bigger cut of the money. That's all you need to know about this DISGRACE. Canelo is a no-hoper driven by greed.

i've heard and read (as you all have) all about money and splits and potential ppv numbers and catchweights and blah blah blah. all probably play their role in why the lineal mw champ ceded his title to his mandatory after fighting a guy like khan.

i was more curious about how this fit into boxing historically based on similar circumstances if any exist at all. everyone immediately starts taking sides and debating the potential reasons like this is something that happens everyday. it doesn't.

just take a look at the list of lineal mw champs (let alone other historical divisions). it's quite fascinating actually that this just happened.

But he fights at 155, if he was a jrmw he'd be fighting at 154 with boo boo and everyone else. There's a reason why he only moved up ONE pound dude, and it's not because "he still considers himself a jr mw". It's because he's scared.. Lara said it best "he's a middleweight fighting at 155.. What does that tell you."

My point exactly, canelo was in love with that belt, now all of a sudden it doesn't mean anything. He gave up the belt because he doesn't plan on fighting golovkin this year, next year, or the year after that, it had nothing to do with purse splits or negotiations.

Canelo has held nothing but WBC belts for the last 6 years

They gave him the 154 lbs green belt against Matthew fugging Hatton in a fight fought at a 150 lbs catch weight.

Then they allowed him defended against
    Gomez - welter weight
Kermit Cintron- Shot and Coming off two losses
    Shane Mosley - welter weight
    Lopez- 140 pounder.

Then Khan for the green 160 lbs strap.- blown up 140 pounder

He's had a good relationship with the WBC all his career. But now they are suddenly corrupt big bad bully boys cos he is asked to face the mando challenger to his belt?? :patsch

    getdafug outahere :rofl
