No, Saddler defeated Pep 3 times out of 4. First was a legitimate ko, second Pep won a 15rd decision, second Pep lost in the corner with a separated shoulder, 4th time Saddler won as Pep was stopped on cuts. This last fight is considered one of the dirtiest bouts in history...eye gouging, low blows, take downs, you name it, they did it. Pep fought dozens of fights after the plane crash so that's no excuse. Saddler just had Pep's number; no shame in that as Saddler is an ATG HOFer. Pep lost 11 times in 241 bouts and one of those losses was considered a dive.
I don't really see many similarities between them other than both were featherweights with awesome footwork.
