    The Philippines does not come to close to Mexico's level at the moment. The one thing they have for them is that Manny Pacquiao is a phenom that happens to be born in the islands.

    Maybe one day when we can offer up thrilling matchups between Filipinos like the Mexicans did with Barrera-Morales and Vazquez-Marquez can a discussion even begin. Until then, there is simply not enough quality fighters AT THE MOMENT to come close.

    In the future? who knows...

    Agree they are just beginning to pioneer in the sport. Kind of like how Chavez brought many mexicans to the sport but not really because Mexico has almost always had greats. Chavez just made it more popular than it was.

    if you include marales-jamili, might as well include pacquiao-mira and the luisito espinosa fights with medina, gonzales, espadas and soto

    yup. before pacquiao, espinosa was carrying the battle for the philippines against mexico's champions.
