Although I think your assessment of JMM controlling the ring is for the most part completely correct, for that particular round, JMM seemed unable to utalise his jab and penetrate through Pac's defense and Pac's clean counter punching and combinations seemed to reign supreme even though he didn't completely control the round.

1:17 JMM gets PacMan with a two punch combo. Finishes it with a right uppercut. 1:25 Double jab to PacMan's face. Could go on, but it's 2:52 A.M. and I'm tired. By the way, I watched it without the sound and had JMM winning that round.

The quality of that video is not good and unfair for those watching for the first time or in a long while and can't see whats connecting.

So from rewatching the 12th from my stored video...

Clearly a Marquez round. JMM was controlling it will his jab and blocking most of Pacquiao's shots. Pac was also blocking a lot of shots but was getting banged by JMM's jab and whenever JMM pulled a quick combination Pac covered up until JMM receded.

Marquez controlled this round and takes it 10-9.

Marquez's round clearly. Seems like some people score for whomever moves forward regardless of whether they're actually doing anything effective. I can see how Lederman keeps his job now :barf

I actually scored it for pac this time round. Marquez started well and then ended well. But didn't do anything for most of the round, just missed a lot. It would have been easier to score though if either guy hadn't missed so much.

I had Marquez avoiding almost everything Pac threw, and having more effective aggression over the full period of the round, excepting the middle of the round, where Pac did enough to make it questionable. If Pac had dominated from then on, then I would have given it to him, that effort outweighing JMM's earlier success, but because the last part of the round reverted to a slightly more even version of the first part, with Marquez's edge eroded but still there, I gave it to him. It was very close though, and I agree that scoring it off a little Youtube window is hardly adequate for certainty.

JMM won that round...most of pac's shots were dodged, blocked. JMM controlled that round, he controlled the fight after round 2.

Marquez in a close relatively (to the rest of the fight) uneventful round. He neutralized Pacio's rushes and landed some stiff jabs early.

    10-9 Marquez.
