Marquez - Pacquaio 1st: 9-10 2nd: 10-9 3rd: 8-10 4th: 9-10 5th: 10-9 6th: 10-9 7th: 10-9 8th: 10-9 9th: 9-10 10th: 9-10 11th: 10-9 12th: 10-9 114-113 Marquez
If you actually sit back and analyze what transpired, Marquez was keeping the exchanges going even though he had the round in the bag. He was'nt letting up, even though the round was won. Look at the 8th as a prime example, Pac got completely battered and dominated in it, yet JMM did'nt let up for one second even in the knowing that the round was secure. There was nothing cautious about the way JMM fought, he in fact fought and was ready willing and open to seek the KO, but the fact that he did'nt get it or even dropped Pac does it mean that he should'nt get the decision. If it was about knockdowns and KO's why are judges given scorecards that they have to turn in after every round????
Heres how I saw it: Clear rounds are: 2,5,6,7,12 were clear rounds for JMM. 3,4,10 & 11 clear for Pac with 3 having a KD score. 1, 7 & 9 were very close rounds, so to be fair I split it, I gave 1 to JMM, 9 to Pac & score 7th even. Overall card looked like this: Pac-JMM 1) 9-10 2) 9-10 3) 10-8 4) 10-9 5) 9-10 6) 9-10 7) 9-9 8) 9-10 9) 10-9 10) 10-9 11) 10-9 12) 9-10 Total: 113-113 The score was a draw. Now based on those 3 rounds being switched around, taking out the even, any fighter could have gotten it and it would have still been a very close fight. IMO this was more of a draw than their last fight, I scored their first fight 1 point to Pac but this is exactly a draw. As it is, records will have it SD for Pac here and 1st being a draw. That 115-112 scorecard looks completely plausible if someone gave Pac all the close rounds. Likewise 115-112 to JMM is also completely plausible if someone have all close rounds to JMM. Split the close rounds between them and you get my score. IMO JMM is a nightmare for Pac to fight. A masterful boxer but with deceivingly fast speed(almost as fast as Pac) and crisp straight punches. The fact that Pac can draw with him is just a testament to his greatness, stylistic nightmare overcomed. Other great fighters like MAB couldnt nearly have as much success. Its simmilar to PBF getting a draw with Hearns or Hearns getting fighting evens with Hagler, both great fighters, one with a stylistic advantage yet equal result.
For those scoring 8 as a 10-8 - Considering his younger brother got a KD scored against him when the ropes were the only things holding him up in the 12th a few weeks back - One could argue that the 4 was a 10-7 round... However - My card - 1 Marquez 10-9 2 Marquez 10-9 3 Pac 10-8 4 Pac 10-9 5 Marquez 10-9 6 Marquez 10-9 7 Pac 10-9 8 Marquez 10-9 9 Pac 10-9 10 Pac 10-9 11 Marquez 10-9 12 Marquez 10-9 Marquez 114 - 113 I have no issue with the scores as they were, VERY tight rounds in there along the way.
I had it 114-113 Marquez, Cant argue with the decision as it was a very close fight with rounds that coulda gone either way. I just hope we get the rematch.
