Just watched the fight again on YouTube on my phone with no commentators. This is what I came up with watching it from a completely different angle. 1. Kovalev 10-9 2. Kovalev 10-8 3. Kovalev 10-9 4. Even 10 - 10 5. Ward 10 - 9 6. Kovalev 10-9 7. Ward 10-9 8. Even 10-10 9. Ward 10-9 10. Ward 10-9 11. Ward 10-9 12. Even 10-10 Scored it 115 - 115 draw If I did not know much about boxing I think I may only have gave Ward about 2 rounds. Rounds 4 and 12 I gave even but if forced may have gave them to Kovalev. On the night I gave Ward the win and supported him before and after the fight. Definitely one of the hardest fights in memory to score, a rematch must happen. I am sure I would come up with a different score watching it say from ringside or a huge screen etc. If you can be bothered, please discuss.
a draw is possible, but its giving ward all the favours. neutrally, kovalev takes some of the debatable rounds, and that means he won.
Rematch worthy fight Rematch won't be in Russia though. LOL. THIS RIGHT HERE^ is why Andre Ward is not the champion he thinks he is...OR FLOYD. you can't sit at home your whole life and live in your moms basement whilst run around claiming to be another GOAT...
I scored it 4 to Kovalev, 5 to Ward, and 12 to Ward. Even rounds are tricky. I think they should be extremely rare and fans should pay close attention as to who wins the round even if it's by an inch.
buddy what are you smoking... both are great chapii9ons and them not fighting outside the states doesnt have **** to do with it.. both have faught the best and won but leave it to losers like you to try and bring them down by saying you dont like the fact that they dont leave the states... wow bud, your excuses are that of a 3 yr old girl... hahaha ward and mayweather... UNDEFEATED!!! lmao you are sio sour
I think we should score them more often, would have less guys like Lara who are content in doing the least amount necessery to be seen as a "winner" of the round by outlanding a guy by like 1 jab.
That throws more subjectivity into the sport and would actually encourage the opposite. Because fighters who have to defend a lead just have to "make it close" enough to win even rounds. More and more fighters would be robbed of close victories because of even rounds. If you earn a round by an inch you've earned it. Even rounds should be for completely impossibly distinguishable rounds.
I don't really agree that it'd bring more subjectivity, what we had last fight is an example of subjectivity where the close rounds are scored for whoever you wanted to win the fight and there's no right or wrong there either, at least if we used even rounds more often it'd provide more structure. At the very least it'd remove some subjectivity from the sport. But I guess you're right in that you'd have guys protecting leads by fighting negative, then again you have guys now who fight the entire fight negatively.
Another factor is the fact you'd have a 3rd way to argue the fight, splitting unanimity even further. "X won that round!" "No it was a Y round" That's what we have now. And now add: "Neither won that round. It was even." Scores will be even more divergent.
i saw the fight from a different camera angle which cause me to give Ward the 12th and the 10th . He edged both rounds barely . Tough fight to score
It is obvious that you should rewatch those rounds. Kovalev clearly won round 4 and the final was close. I gave it to Ward only because judges are bias towards the home hero.
