but those effective blows margo was landing were he had lost several earlier rds. margo had problems even getting close enough to land those shots until it came towards the middle rds. thats when he started landing those staright rights and those body punches. it just looked like he put himself in position to need a ko and margo has never been a ko puncher.

Williams much longer legs and frame took him away from getting hit hard to the head by Margarito's shots, but it certainly did'nt stop Margarito from hitting Williams hard to the body.

I dont see where Williams is controlling the ring if he's not stopping Margarito's foward aggression, and he's not stopping or even discouraging Margarito to dig deep and punch.

Running around a ring does'nt equate to controlling the ring.

Margarito took what was available as Williams was intent on flurring with less than significant power, while at the same time, Margarito punched with power.

you are saying this but ask yourself did he do this over the course of 12 rds? he didnt start a consistent attack until the 6th rd really. and williams did stop margo agression in the first half of the fight by jabbing. it created distance. over the course of the fight margo was able to close the gap as the fight wore on but you cant negate margo ineffectivenss early when williams was winning rds. as for running around, he moved alot to create distance but he still was throwing punches exchanging. thats what really counts.

Just put up a new thread with 11 boxing writers' scores. They picked Margo for a win or a draw over PW winning!

    116-112 for Williams.
Divac do you count punches in every fight so you know who blocked how many punches went through and how many got blocked. Its silly when u score round by round only an idiot would give Margo a victory.Williams clearly won this fight.

There are two things that I saw that caught my eye during the first 6 rounds while HBO was pointing to a shutout.......

One Williams was'nt punching with any authority.......and two, Margarito was picking off the great majority of Williams's punches.

In essence, Williams moving his hands imo created the illusion to many that he was being more effective.
....but from my perspective, their was a reason why Williams did'nt put more mustard on his shots in a more consistent basis.
......when you put mustard on a shot, you leave yourself vulnerable.....obviously, Williams felt Margarito's power enough to not open up with power......and since Williams did'nt open up much with power and still got alot of his shots blocked even without offering much power.....
I dont see where anybody can say he was clearly more effective than Margarito, even in the first 6 rounds where on my scorecard it was a dead heat through six.

The funny thing about it is that the worldclass pressure fighter got beat at his own game. Willimas out hustled him nothing complicated about what he did.

If you gave this fight to Margo, either you are completely biased or just a terrible scorer.

Judging from another thread that has a link to the scores of quite a few boxing writers, there must be a whole lot of terrible scorers.

Of course, you cant be one of them Illmatic!:nono  :rofl :nut
