ok so minus knocking the guy down youve clearly lost the round do you score it 10-8 or simply give him a 10-9 because other then the knockdown punch he lost the round clearly

ive always gone 10-9 if he clearly lost the round minus the KD but if the round was close or he simply won the round i give him a 10-8 is that wrong?

9-9 if you knock a guy down and lose the round.

If a guy is losing a round and knocks someone down, you give him a 10 - 9....which is actually a 2 point turnaround, because you've gone from giving his opponent a 10-9 to reversing it because of the knockdown....

But if he wins the round and knocks him down, you award a 10-8, which is only a one point gain....

    What's the logic?

    And?

it's 10-9 to the round winner with a pt deduction for being knocked down.
    Simple as that.

Like winning a round and getting pt deduction for a low blow.

    Simple math, son.

You can't score a round 9-9 if there's no points deductions.

I guess it would be 10-10 then?

Wouldn't make a difference anyway. it could be a draw round with any number.

i believe in the cotto -pac fight this very thing happened. 2 of the 3 judges scored it 10-9 to pac (who got the KD) instead of 10-8 because cotto won the rest of the round as far i recall.

I'll usually go with an automatic 10-8 if the guy scores a knockdown.
He would have to lose the round pretty bad, for me to bring it down to 10-9.
It seems that's the way judges do it as well.

Generally, the losing of the round would need to come after the knock down. So If a fighter is clearly losing a round, but then scores a knockdown toward the end, he gets a 10-8. But If he scores a knockdown early, and then loses, judges are more likely to consider a 10-9.

As far as I'm concerned you could be getting your arse slapped around for 2:59 but if you pull out a KD in the last second, you've won the round 10-8.

That's how I've always scored it.

the scenario you just said could be scored a 10-9 to you.

The way I see it whoever wins the round it's 10-9 to them.
Whoever gets knocked down loses the round 10-8, regardless of who was winning.
If you both get a kd then whoever won the round wins it 10-9.
    No round should be 10-10.

I think this is how MOST judges score a fight when I've looked at pre-fight scorecards.

i think 10-8 is a more common score, you're right. but 10-9 could also be scored.

in cotto/pac, round 3 was scored 10-8 by one judge, the other two official judges scored it 10-9.

    judge for yourself:

Yeah I know some judges would score that different from a 10-8 because Pac pulled a flash kd out of nowhere from losing the round.

A few years ago I think judges would give it a 10-9, but these days I think they try and be more black and white.

A kd should supercede all other actions because it's the biggest moment of the round.

EDIT: Just realised you said TWO judges gave it 10-9. In which case a lot depends on what breed of judge you get lol.
