The person bleeding tends to score higher on the EVENT scorecards

"They" meaning the idiots on HBO, who still appear to know about as little about the sport as when they started 20-plus years ago.

    Never score blood.

Some people have thin skin. Bursting open doesn't mean they aren't landing the better shots.

Opening a cut shouldnt be scored any differently. What if the fighter is butted, elbowed or an existing cut is opened?

Most of the time a guy being cut up is losing anyway but it shouldnt factor in how you score a fight at all.

i agree, cuts are working hazrds...it happens.

but you could make the argument that if a guy has a weak chin then still doesnt mean they are landing the better shots

Depends how the cut opens of course, but in general I don't treat it as worthy of a point deduction in the round for the cut fighter. Cuts mostly seem to be because either the fighter is prone to them (e.g. Ricky Hatton) or just pure random luck of having the punch land just right.

Edit: Wobbling the opponent is far more indicative of a good round than cutting them, in my book.

How about if a fighter has 3 cuts - Isnt that indicative of the other fighter being more successful??

Not really. Vitali Klitschkos face was falling apart against Lennox Lewis and most people felt he still won the fight even after it got stopped and he lost.

They do score blood. There is a one point deduction from uninjured boxer for accidental injuries and 2 points for intentional. That is if the bout continues.

Some fighters bleed as a matter of courtesy. I propose we give the judges a much-needed day off on the evenings they fight.

Everyone deserves some quality time with the wife now and again.

I believe your roommate scores menstrual blood quite highly, as he believes in its Sicilian voodoo powers. :nonono

scoring blood is also known as ******ation.

When you clearly beat the **** out of the other guy and get unluckily cut you don't deserve to lose.

Well put, fighters like Arturo Gatti would have bad luck with scoring like that..
