A fellow poster posted the above in a different thread. I find his way of giving close rounds to the hometown fighter outright wrong and dishonest. When I score a round, I try my best to give the round to the fighter that I felt better deserved it......hometown, champion, or favorite never concsiously plays in my mind. How do you all feel about it, do you take Asero's avenue of scoring a close round, or do you give a round to the fighter you feel best deserved it no matter the circumstances?
you misinterpreted me...i would also give it to the fighter who deserved it. but i do not score even rounds. you mentioned you score even rounds as an average to less than one per full 12 round fight...same as me, even rounds are very rare (both deserve 10 points) and i score it to the favored fighter or the underdog hometown guy.
case when i give it to the favored fighter: round 1 of pac-jmm 2 and berto-collazo case when i gave even rounds to the hometown guy: Rounds 1 and 7 of juarez-john a round in John-Marquez and a round in Diaz-Marquez
what i mean by "close rounds" is when both guys deserve 10 points it must be differentiated from close rounds with clear winner (subjective) i do not give even rounds even if both deserve 10 points
You said what you said my friend.....I you feel it should be an even round, you would score that round to the hometown fighter......thats not the proper way to score, and its outright dishonest. You said what I know you said!:yep ....you did'nt back off from your post sentiments in the other thread we were discussing this......now that I've brought it all out for the whole forum to opiniate in a thread all to itself......you want to back out of your statement. Let the forum opiniate which way is right and which way is wrong.
i used close rounds in the context that i feel both guys deserve 10 points...but in reality, 95% of the judges do not score even rounds in a championship fight. So you have to find a way to score it... you mention look for intangibles or more damaging punch...but those factors but not only be considered during even rounds. when i say both fighters deserve 10 points, i already took into consideration aggression, effectivity of blows, intagibles and generalship
We already know how judges use their convenient bias to score rounds......its the reason why we have so many bogus decisions. Stop with your nonsense *******.....the whole forum knows that had the roles been reversed in round 1 of JMM-Pac rematch.......you would have given the round to Pac based on the head snapping right hand he would have given JMM, and irregardless if JMM was the aggressor or not. The forum knows your game, you score for the aggressor when it suits your agenda, so stop your nonsense and lets see what the forum has to say on the thread topic.
of course, we have different opinions on scoring an even round but i don't think that giving a close (even) round to the hometown or favored fighter is an outright dishonest. it's just like a champion retaining it's belt if it's a draw. but i'm not saying that even rounds should always go to the hometown or favored fighter, i just find it inappropriate to call it an outright dishonest. remember, it's a close (even) round, so giving it either way is not corruption or something like that.
This threadstarter is the guy who pined for scoring round 8 of the Pacquiao-Marquez rematch 10-8 for Marquez, while saying nothing of how Marquez held on to the ropes in the closing seconds of the third round which, if properly called, should have been another knockdown resulting in a legitimate 10-7 round for Pacquiao. [Edit: 10-7 round instead of 10-8]
Then you would agree with Asero about his scoring in JMM-Juan Diaz......any round that was close enough to score even, you would have scored for Diaz? I dont give a rats ass who is the champion or not.....but in this case, JMM is the champion and Diaz was the hometown fighter.....I wonder why Asero would decide to bypass the fact that Marquez was the champion, and simply decide that he's going to give a close round to the hometown fighter in this particular fight...... .....of course none of us here have a clue why Asero would do that!:rofl:rofl:rofl:nut
Thats for another thread.....but on my behalf, Marquez completely dominated and had Pacquiao hurt in that round 8...... ......there was at least one round if not 2 that I scored 10-8 in favor of Pacquiao against DLH, despite there not being a knockdown. When a fighter completely dominates another in a round and castigates him, thats solid grounds for a 10-8.
