Just curious, when scoring fights do you reward defence? Like should a fighter get 'points' for defence? Or is it scored moreso in that the offensive fighter has points detracted or not scored for missing?
I would think that defense is just nullifying your opponent scoring points, n you need offensive (not just defense) to win a round. Having said that Willie pepp won a round with out throwing a punch apparently. So I suppose if someone never thew a punch in the round but also never got hit by making their opponent miss every punch you could give the round to the fighter who made their opponent miss for ring generalship. But is that really scoring points for d or for ring generalship. I don't know the answer. Good question though.
I've always been of the mind that good defence thwarts the opponent scoring on offence The idea of Willie Pep winning a round without throwing a punch is pretty silly.
don't know if its rewarding for defense actually, but I wouldn't be scoring points for a fighter missing punches, right? You know, u hear a fighter gets pints for being the aggressor, that's fine, but if his opponent id a defensive master, if he makes his aggressive opponent miss all night, I'd go with defense over aggressiveness all night long! Its got to balance out a little of course, punches landed by both fighters, effectiveness of those punches, etc.
