1- Calzaghe (10-8 ) 2- Eubank 3- Eubank 4- Calzaghe 5- Eubank 6- Calzaghe 7- Eubank (even at this point) 8- Eubank 9- Calzaghe 10- Calzaghe (10-8 ) 11- Calzaghe 12- Calzaghe 115-111 Calzaghe Most of Calzaghe's punches for the first 2/3's of the fight were blocked, and Eubank got in a lot of counters (sneak rights and short uppercuts) and body shots. Or he'd leap in with a lead and leap out again. It seemed to be working. The last four rounds were extremely scrappy and sloppy on both sides, both men coming forward and Calzaghe still getting in some noisy southpaw crosses.
Calzaghe could hit harder back then. He was actually known as an up-and-coming power puncher in '96 and '97.
He certainly hit a lot harder back then. Dean Francis and Glenn Catley say Calzaghe hit them harder than anyone and that was back in '92 at 156lbs. He had very loud lefts when younger!!
