Hell, I see one opponent land several clean blows, yet not get any credit for it, the other misses by mile and get credit! It is difficult for me to watch such crap.
You just have to watch it with the right perspective. Just remember that politics determine the medal "winners". Watch and try to gauge the talent so you can determine who will actually matter in the future.: good
In the bout previous to the one before with Jerome Thomas versus the Dominican, I saw him land 3 blows to the Dominicans body and he didn't get a single point. The judges suck ass.
Saw the fight with that rubbish Chinese fighter vs the Ukranian?, that **** was HORRIBLE and pathetic. The fight was so close in the end yet they scored a punch that didn't even land hard enough for the Chinese guy, anything this guy does they would score a point when the Ukranian is way more active and LANDING stiffer shots. That fight was PATHETIC. Oleksandr Klyuchko vs Hu Qing, you guys need to check it out.
Look at my previous thread ( the point system in the olympics can blow me) ! not watching anymore of that crap.. I'm done with amateur fighting! I thought when they stole roy jones gold medal it was a once in a lifetime corrupt and missjudged fight but it happens over and over and over again now.. ! plus I think they know exactly who they put against who to favour some countries. I've lost all my trust for this sport
it's generally not that bad when it is two "away" nations - i.e. little to no bias. body punches rarely count as all scoring punches have to be thrown with conviction and score on the right part of the gloves. you usually get a body shot with a hook, so it's much easier to cuff the body which rightly doesn't count. as someone said in a previous thread, it's pure boxing, so if you don't enjoy watching it then you're more of a fight fan than a boxing fan. both have their merits.
ie noticed an a running theme, of fighters hitting cleanly, and still no points.. the worst i remember, was the american boy with the mohawk hair, a lot of his clean landed punches, didnt count. i agree he didnt win, but the score was horrific. for me the point system favours guys who throw 1 punch at a time, ive often seen combinations landed, 4-5-6 punches thrown, perhaps 2-3 landed and yet 0 or 1 counted.
good point about the single shots. you're boxing to impress the judges almost as much as to beat the other person, if that makes sense.
