There have been lots of threads about the scoring in this olympics, but it has become clear very few people know how these bouts are scored.
Many people are talking about how when a judge presses his button to score a punch another judge has to press within in a second to confirm it. This is NOT how it is done.
The judges press a button for every punch they see landed, then an average score for each boxer is calculated based on the closest 3 scores for each boxer.
For example if the scores for round 1 were
    Judge1 GB 5-3 USA
    Judge 2 GB 4-1 USA
    Judge 3 GB 7-3 USA
    Judge 4 GB 8-5 USA
    Judge 5 GB 3-4 USA

The closest 3 scores for GB are Judges; 1, 2, 5. So only those 3 judges scores are used giving an average of 4.
The closest 3 scores for USA were Judges; 1, 3, 5 giving an average of 3.33 rounded down to 3

So the score after round 1 would be 4-3. And this is done for each round.

In my example the GB boxer was awarded more than 4 points by most of the judges, so that may give the impression that he should have more than 4, but that is not how it is calculated.
