I was just sitting here and thinking about the Casa-Santa Cruz fiasco and made me wonder about scoring a bit. Why couldn't judges' scores be put in electronically each and every round with them then being put up on the scoreboard or video board at the venue. To me this would make a judge more conscious of what they are doing and more focused. Plus you'd have the added benefit of the fighters being able to tell where they stand. If it's a close fight then the fighters would have added motivation to make sure they keep winning rounds. If a fighter is behind by a wider margin, you'd then see him going for the knockout much harder. Maybe those of you who have been watching the sport for longer than I can come up with the negatives, but to me the positives seem to outweigh them.
They've tried the open scoring experiment every 4 rounds in recent fights, and they had done it in the past as in fights like Shavers-Ali. It was not well received.
That when a fighter knows that he has the fight won, he will coast to a victory. Suppose a guy wins the first 7 rounds of a fight. Can you just imagine how much it would suck azss watching him run the last 5 rounds.
I suppose that is true, but surely the guy would realize that doing so would only hurt him in the long run. Imagine the gate at his next fight. Why would anyone go?
