This does not excite me. If Fedor has lost a step and his heart isn't in it, he should retire. I think this is a well thought out decision by Fedor and not a knee jerk reaction to a technical loss.
Did you think he meant it? http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/2/15/1994946/fedor-not-ready-to-retire-will-keep-fighting
I posted it in the thread about him retiring as well, but it may have been too late to get any attention.
Very bad call. Fedor should have to fight Del Rosario for that privlege. At this stage, if he was to jump in and not be coming off of a win, it would seriously hurt the credibility of the GP. He can fight SDR and Griggs can fight Overeem. If all the fighters are still healthy then they could have one more finale fight for the alternate. This way the alternate would be coming off of some decent wins when jumping in at the semi final or final.
I notice the likes of Moron, Sloth and Snakerattle havent made a thread about the injustice of a guy coming off two loses jumping the que for the number 1 reserve spot. The were quick enough to jump on the Okami bandwagon, isnt this the same thing? Unless they were just using it as an excuse to trash the UFC.....
Fedor can do no wrong, you should know this and Dana is the Devil:fire. I honestly think Coker wants Fedor to get the **** kicked out of him because of the crap M1 has put him through. If Fedor has to fight overeem I think it could be a bad beatdown for Fedor. He needs to fight Ken Shamrock, he's a former UFC champ and also the world's most dangerous man.
I actually think that Fedor wants to retire and his heart isn't in it any more. The quick retraction of his post-fight retirement speech smacks of his pals at M-1 Global persuading him to fight on in order to make as much money as they can before he goes. Because there's no more co-promoting or million dollar contracts when Fedor leaves the cage for the last time - it's back to putting on regional shows in Russia and Eastern Europe for M-1. Fedor may be a part-owner, but he's already made his money and is due a happy retirement. If M-1 flops he'll do just fine. It's his manager and the other executives who will be bricking it.
Fedor is still a name but the poor guy has single handidly legitimised SF hw division. Tough fight with Rogers and Reem destroyed him thus the hype got bigger. Werdum was the first to beat him and he became elite. The same for Big Foot. Three key names in the SF HW division are now solid top 10 elite fighters. Poor Fed Fed.
1. I never made a single comment about Okami 2. I'm Not for Fedor continuing in the GP 3. I trash the UFC because of Dana's mouth and unprofessionalism.
What a scam. The beauty of a tournament is that you are ELIMINATED when you lose! Those reserve fighters have been promised a shot, Del Rosario has already been told he will be the first alternate. Don't bend over because your cash cow lost in the first round. Strikeforce more and more comes off as amateur hour to me;desperate to keep up with the UFC.
