Yes, F. Scott, right in the centre of the “Jazz Age,” Dempsey, Greb, Babe Ruth etc. Would tend to agree “Gatsby” a little overrated, whilst the third film version with DiCaprio, underrated. Fantastic visuals and way over the top, in keeping with the era.
Fitz’s tragic ending at 44, exasperated by mental and alcoholism,, brought an end to unfulfilled talent, with only 4 novels.
Let’s hope his namesake, takes a different path.

"Boxing champion Scott Fitzgerald has been found not guilty of **** following a trial at Preston Crown Court.

Four years after being arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in her home after an all-night drink and drugs session, the 32-year-old said outside court: “It’s been four years of hell. But my focus now is getting back in the ring - possibly as early as May.

"I’ve been in the gym training for the past three months and I’m just so glad this is over."

A jury took less than two hours to unanimously find Fitzgerald not guilty of **** - a charge he had been protesting his innocence since first being arrested in 2020.


The jury of five women and seven men at Preston heard they had a simple choice - who to believe over the alleged ****.

Judge Heather Lloyd told them that one of the parties was lying - the woman or Fitzgerald.

And after almost three days of evidence they took just 103 minutes to decide Fitzgerald had been telling the truth when he claimed the sex with the woman - in a bathroom just feet away from her sleeping children - had been consensual.


The boxer said she "did all the running" and had lured him upstairs and initiated intercourse.

Later she claimed she had consistently told him "no" but the jury did not believe her.

After being acquitted he told the Lancashire Post that his behaviour over the past four years "hasn't been good."

He was jailed for assaulting a man outside a pub and also faced other allegations of assault.

He was said at a previous court hearing to have had problems with both drink and recreational drugs.

But outside court he insisted those days were now behind him - he has been clean for more than a year and has been keeping himself in good physical shape.

If I was him I’d get out on some small hall shows for a bit and keep away from the limelight whilst he gets the cobwebs off. I know Steve Wood was his manager and he does his own shows in the North West so hopefully he could get him on a few of them.

 

She should be jailed. If it took a jury (5 of which were women) that little time to clear the man, particularly in the crazy days of man hating society there must have been no evidence. 4 years accused of that and mud sticks.

Look at Ched Evans, high flying, lost best years of his career and a fortune.

Wee Brenda Rodgers made a 'good girl' comment last week to a journalist and was suddenly propelled up there with the biggest sexual predators in the UK.

Some Scottish Feminist Society member was on the Jim White show expressing her outrage at Brenda's sexist behaviour and was ripped a new George and Danny from Simon Jordan.

The female journalist made no complaint and had no issue with Brenda's comment.

False allegations should = the same prison sentence the alleged perpetrator would have received if found guilty.

 

Hope he comes back and earns a right few quid, was a good fighter who had serious addiction problems due to this scumbag girl falsely accusing him

 

Can see him coming back and it being similar to Scott Harrison-another fighter with demons outside the right.

Fitzgerald will win a few then get fed to a young hungry figher-He'd be ideal Conor Benn fodder a few years back. Maybe now Ben Whittaker in a year or so.

Couple of guys I was in the army with had their lives destroyed by women making these types of claims and faced zero consequence. Both guys slept with a women on a 1 night stand and the women later claimed foul play only to admit it was lies under oath (along with text messages showing they were liars). Yet they cry and play the victim and nothing happens to them.
