Has anyone heard anything about Fitzgerald?

Seems improbable that he comes back now. Such a shame. I know he had his demons but still involved in some of the best live fights I’ve seen.

All reports and sightings of him end around 2021 if you do a search on X.

He had that comeback fight in May and then fell off the map again.

Hearn promised to help him in November 2021 and then it’s been radio silence.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't force it to drink. There's obviously problems that are bigger than boxing in his life.

Got sentenced to 8 months in 2023 for breaking the jaw of a completely innocent man who just happened to be in the wrong boozer at the wrong time. Absolute horror of a bloke who has a track record of assault and nasty behaviour.

Pissed a lucrative career and a boatload of talent up the wall just to get on the ale. Still more likeable than Fowler, all things considered, one of the great British fights of the 2010s. All downhill after that, really. Shame, but I've got a lot more sympathy for the people he's harmed than I do for him. Only so many times you can have sympathy for an alcoholic.

I used to love watching him, and massively celebrated his win over Fowler. He also came across as a likeable lad in interviews. Truth is though he's been behaving like a mini Paul Sykes for years. Absolutely mindless violence caused by being pissed up or high as a kite. As TSN says, any sympathy should go to the defenceless people he's hurt.

Always dread when his name comes up on here in case something's happened. Glad it wasn't.

Last I saw he was sat outside a pub in Preston on his own looking completely out of it. He's on the drink and drugs. Sad

Some of his relatives have tried to persuade him to go into treatment for alcohol and drugs abuse but he refuses.

It wouldn't surprise me if he ends up committing suicide.

    Sad story.

Such a waste of talent as he was going through the domestic scene well despite not seemingly that well prepared. A switched on Fitzgerald could have won a world title.

Dead within five years, the lads life has been a mess for years and if you don't want to get better you'll only go faster in the other direction.

Not heard much the past few months bar the Court Case was found in his favour after about 4 years of it ongoing.

A mates wife knows him / of him from the estate (Larches) that my mate and wife live on / Scott frequents. As much as I'd love a triumphant ring return, even I know that he is finished as a Boxer.

Think my mate said that he was after borrowing "a fiver here, a fiver there" off people. A pretty sad demise if accurate. The last photo I saw of him, he looked unrecognisable with the extra weight.

I did see his Dad (Dave) eating outside with some friends last summer in the outside tabled eating quarter of Preston but I decided to not bother asking him about Scott. Never personally seen Scott out on the now rare nights out that I've had.

2018 - the world was his oyster. He should have fought for world honours. The sad thing is is that he'll end up being that old bloke in the pub telling the youngsters in years to come "I coulda beena contender"...

I just hope that as I type, he is happy and content.

He lives about a 10 -15 minute walk from myself if he is still at the address mentioned locally after the court case. Thinking about that, wouldn't surprise me if we both go to the same Turkish Barbers. If I ever see him, I'll ask the question - Are you retired as a Boxer.

Have you never met him then? Surprising if so, with you living that close to him and in a small city.

A bit difficult as I work nights so I rarely encounter day time humans. :D
