The win against Chacon was very good, but the fight against Victor Polo is how I remember Scott Harrison.
That draw would have made Sven Ottke blush.

It was a hometown decision. There nothing new in boxing. He had some great wins over a faded Boom Boom Johnson aswell as smashing up his best domestic and European contenders.Considering he wasnt that special in any department i think he did quite well with the limited tools he had.

Scotts boxing ability was actualy very underated, probably because he negated it for a few years in favour of possibly his biggest attribute, which was his size at the weight.

Never really saw that.He ALWAYS used his physical size and strength in all his matchups. He was a welter who boiled down to 26.The guy had been fighting at that weight since 15! He was steady and effective but never excelled at any particular attribute.

He worked behind the jab a helluva lot more in his early career, infact, even up until post Chacon he worked more with the jab. He became more of a head on brawl type fighter in the latter part of his career. Dont get me wrong, he was still a come forward fighter early doors, but in a way (a bit like Hatton) he negated certain aspects of his game that got him where he was (imo). From what I can remember anyway.

Sure Dunky will be here at some point to debate this one.

Harrison was a decent title holder for a while.

Some of you may remember he used to work behind his jab and throw combinations back when he was beating up the post prime harris-Pattersons and johnsons.

But from what iv heard in local boxing circles (Glasgow) his team quickly realised he did not have the boxing skill to apply that at world level. So they made adjustments to his style and he effectivley turned into a come forward brawler. Depending on his strength and solid chin.

Lads is 100% Scurla watch the Patterson fight, the Mullings fight, the Smith Odoom fight.... In all those matches it was his boxing skill that led to victory. He was a precise and correct combination puncher and not considered a devestating puncher until he began walking through guys with world class durability. It seems like Hatton and Hamed he became more and more reliant on his power which led to a decline in his skill.

He never had the skill to simply outbox fighters at world level! And his father and trainer knew it. Its common knowledge if u actually reside in glasgow and know people in boxing circles here.

He lost to a shot Medina when he simply couldnt avoid his jab nor his slick counter punching. And he also had trouble with Victor Polo who did the same.Harrison was a good fighter but he definitly didnt have the skills to outbox any slicksters.Although i must admit the Abelyan fight did surprise me.:yep

Good luck to him, i don't think he will ever get back to where he was, but he was a much better fighter than Arthur will ever be. If Arthur met scott now (at the level Arthur is now), and when Scott was at his peak 2 years ago, Scott would have killed him.

If he can do well in his next couple of fights and get some form back, i think he will take Arthur out if they meet.

He was world class, but not elite like the Barrera's and Morales.

He was lucky to get a draw against Victor Polo,i thought he lost that fight, but i think he just had an off night that night.

Scott is one of the most under-rated fighters in the UK.

People use the 1st Medina fight as ammo to slate him and conviently forget to mention the way he destroyed him in the rematch, Lennox Lewis was praised for avenging his loss to Rahman but I suppose thats because some people seemed to think the sun shone out his arse.(different strokes for different folks imo)

His draw with Polo was exactly that imo....a draw!... OK, he looked lacklustre in that fight but considering his eye was cut in the 1st round and he pretty much couldnt see out of it from the 2nd onwards I reckon he done not too bad.

Tracy Harris Patterson is a great example of him using his boxing skills, he was a 10 fight novice and he put on a cracking performance against the 35 year old Patterson (yep, the same age as Kostya Tszyu when he fought Hatton)

Now take into consideration that he was an alcoholic for the last year or two of his career and still got the wins then surely their must be some talent there...no?

Check out his interview here at the Khan v Earl fight and see for yourself just how fit and fresh he actually looks, I dont think I've seen him looking this well since around 2003........
