it seems that scott harrison is fed up with the red tape at the british boxing board of control and has decided to get licensed by the malta boxing commission. i cant believe one of the greatest scottish fighters and one of my favourite fighters is having to go down this route after doing lots in his career for the british board. i hope he can now get his head down and get back to fighting but what is the point really, i attended the show in wishaw and i wish i didnt it was a farce. the people running the show didnt have a clue and although at the end of his career i would like to have seen him boxing britains best and seeing how he could get on. good luck scott but its a shame it has come to this.
There some amount of followers on twitter signing his petition to avoid extradition which seems a tad bizzare as he always knew it was coming it was just a matter of time , he did the crime so was always gonna need to do the time , Great fighter in the ring but outside the ring he was a very dark character
Believe it or not scott is actually quite a quiet guy out the ring.big time demons tho...also had a problem with the drink n the charlie sadly..as a fighter he was a complete machine..at his peak he coulda been spoken rite up their with the p4p best
i went to college with him mate never had any issue with him but was very volitile and at times he wanted to be more a gangster than a boxer , also took a liberty on a wee guy i worked with in a pub toilet and smashed his jaw for merly saying alright mate which led to him being barred from every pub in east kilbride , great boxer but his lifestyle was bizzare
How far can he really get through the mbc, are they recognised by the major boards, or is he jut fighting to pay the bills? (fine if so, I'm just wondering how serious his intentions are)
There was another Scottish guy fighting out of Malta a couple of years back I remember watching a programme about him, can think of his name though. I wonder if he is a mate of Harrison's or something ?
you might be thinking about scott dixon? he moved to malta and i think he has a boxing club there. the mbc is different, they arent actually registered in malta and have no real connection to malta!! lol they have just set up a commision to make things look more ligit but trust me they are very unorganised and they seem to license lots of fighters that cant pass the bbboc medicals
That name rings a bell :goodand yes the guy was definitely fighting out in Malta. I have obviously heard Malta and Scottish fighters and put 2+2 together and got 5 Not for the first time either
Slightly off topic but went to see Harrison when he stopped Brodie 10 years ago now. Can anyone remember who was top of the bill that night? I remember getting my picture taken with Winky Wright but don't think he was fighting that night.
I was there too, Harrison v Brodie was top of bill. I heard at the time Fish eyes wanted this fight on the Saturday on the Hatton v Tszyu bill but Harrison as a long running World Champion at the time refused to be on Rickys undercard. So obviously as you will remember Harrison v Brodie was on the Friday night.
Isn't the mbc got something to do with Steven Vaughan, think he's put on a fair few shows in Liverpool? As for the legitimacy of it, BBBoC is a limited company isn't it, not as if they have powers like the FA or the ECB
yeah i didnt really know him or that met him a few times and he used to run a lot where i live. But i also know the guy that he used to get stuff from and when he was in his house he was always quiet as a mouse? this was right at the end of his career tho.
