Tbey let a convicted ****** in Mike Tyson fight here but stripped Scott Harrison of his license before he was ever convicted of these offences and left him without a license for years. The fight he had in Spain was around 2005 !
That's not really what I was asking. I was asking for an example of a person on a parole licence that has been granted a boxing licence by BBBoC.
I could go find loads but a recent one Ronnie Clark got nine months in July 2017 fought Zelfa Barrett February 2018 , that's 7 months after his nine month sentence still two months outstanding on his sentence .
Yes, he did do part of his sentence in Spain. After he was extradited there in 2015. 2015 plus 4 equals 2019.
good point. Who can forget the bum show vs Julius Fatchance and the empty Hampden and I'll eat your kids.
I'm not sure what you mean? Every side? As per my previous post the media have reported he was released early and it's a fact as far as I am aware that he was imprisoned in 2015 for a 4 year sentence after being extradited and was released in 2018. I'm quite happy to accept I'm wrong on that. If you would offer up anything that contradicts that.
Don't know Scott Harrison wasn't denied a license whilst on parole, was denied one before he was convicted of any offence.
Actually interested to see how he does. Was quite impressive his fight with was it Lee Walsh a solid losing effort considering the problems Scott was going through at the time. Heard rumors he was looking red hot in training prior to it and seems to be dedicated enough for a comeback...talking about training three times a day atm. Although he did say he was doing it cause its the only thing he knows. Which always sounds a bit worrying. Not that fussed the bboc havn't giving him a licence. Probably the right decision atm till he can prove he's beat his demons....at least he still has the opportunity to fight. The bboc should monitor how it goes....really is last chance saloon for him. Might not be a world beater anymore...but can at least try and finish up his career on a good note after the lows.
The Real McCoy goes down as a great Scottish World Boxing Champion up to his demolition of Michael Brodie in Manchester. His previous comeback was painful to watch, particularly in being defeated by Walsh, a fighter not fit to lace his gloves in his prime. Ricky Burns was never elite and Alex Arthur never won a World Title in the ring or defended his 'Charles Martin awarded' title. Scott Harrison was the man and this was one serious waste of talent that should have reached elite status. Sad to see him fight on at 41 as he will never recover those lost years in prison even if he was in his late twenties after leaving prison. Iron Mike is a clear example of a man that was a shell of the fighter before after a long spell inside. Scott's toughest fight in the first 12 months outside prison for him will be defeating alcoholism.
Think the main difference with this to Tyson is Scott still appears to be motivated. Tyson lost that motivation after prison. Pretty sure he religiously trained in jail as well. Your right with the alcoholism tho will probably still be his biggest battle. At forty one you can't really expect much....after so many lost years its worth at least trying tho. The circuit he's on might actually help him...pretty much most comebacks bar most end unsuccessfully cause they jump back in too deep too soon chasing the money. He just needs to keep fighting mugs and slowly build it up. Getting out regularly. Worth a shot I say...see where it takes him. Got a feeling the alcoholism will beat him tho even more so than the age.
For those saying it was "promised" back to him, whether via his words or the board, that is complete nonsense as depends on so many factors, ranging from conduct to fitness and way beyond. At 41 it would be horrific to see him attempt another pro comeback
The same board who give licenses to people with no amateur boxing experiences. At end of the day he would obviously be well passed his best but would still likely be better than many licensed lightweight, so why are they licensed and not him.
