i dont know about sparring how it went or who had the upper hand,

. But looking at how they were in the ring ... Scott was a beast at the time and would have too much and eventually get the better of AA after a while maybe even walk him down... i always wonderd how close the fight was - if it ever was close to happening

"Look what Liam Walsh did to Scott and Alex was 2/3 leagues above Walsh"

Why are you not taking Harrison in his prime into consideration and instead making comparisons with a version who, barring a 4 rounder and a 6 rounder had been out the ring for 6/7 years?

Anyway, Billy has put the matter to bed. He seen it with his own eyes so anything we conjur up with our imagination is useless.

I posted this thread in 2007 and didn't get a single reply until 2013?

That's got to be some sort of forum record surely?

Yes Billy has put it to bed!! Billy doesn't seem to like Alex for obvious reasons.. If you look at the fact that Billy also thinks that Ricky is better than Scott and has said in the press that Ricky should be considered Scotland's greatest ever.. I would assume that Billy believes Ricky would beat a prime Scott Harrison.. To be fair Alex Schooled Ricky in their fight and was just the better boxer.. I see Billy says that's due to How many fights Ricky had!! To be fair Alex had Ricky's number.. As for sparring from what I hear Alex wasn't the best person for sparring and I've heard a few people say they got the better of him!! In my opinion Scott and Alex are both a waste of very talented boxers. Ricky is proving what a good honest pro can do!! Billy out of curiosity did you think David Brophy won the fight on Saturday?

Yes the cleaner shots were landed by david and Gary was hitting David's arms regularly.
great wee learning fight for David who has at least trying to test himself which is refreshing

I agree great learning fight. And very evenly matched but I just wanted to point out that because someone is a very good boxing trainer doesn't mean you have to agree on their judgement for fights.. Most people think Gary won the fight. I had Gary by 1 round.

Scott would have walked from Arthur, golf in class, doubt it would have went passed 6 rounds. Arthur never beat a world rated opponent ever (Ricky is only name he beat, and he was not a name then), and prime to prime Ricky would have beat Arthur lets be honest.

Scott Harrison fought Walsh way past his prime, years out the game, rusty as ****, and 2 weights above what he fought in his prime. Make no mistake, Harrison was far superior to Walsh in his day and would have murdered him.

As for Arthur, i think he was technically better than Harrison in some areas, but i think Harrison would walk him down and stop him late if they ever fought in their day. Harrison was a world class fighter.

To be fair David,Ricky fought Alex when IMO Alex was in his prime,Alex could have fought Ricky when Ricky won the SFW title but moved to LW and again when Ricky won the LW title Alex went up.
The thing is Alex can always say he beat Ricky and that's important to him but Ricky can always say he won the title in the ring and defended it many times.
Ricky getting beat by Alex reminds me of the sparring with Ricky and Ronnie, clearly Ricky is the superior fighter as he dominated the spar but Ronnie will learn loads from it and get the benefit out of it:good
many people laughed when I said Ricky HAS the potential to be the best Scottish fighter ever, well at present he's not far away is he? One more win he then becomes the Scot to win the most world title fights and there's still loads to come! ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!!!!!!

He couldn't lace Ken Buchanan's gloves Billy.

I like Ricky, he isn't world class unfortunately, Hearn will match him carefully for a few fights and when he steps up he will lose. You can twist his last outing however you like, the lad gifted it to him to suggest he out toughed him is bollocks.

Billy.. Don't know why you obsessed with talking about sparring. I have been in your gym when both have sparred and Ronnie copes very well and his style causes Ricky problems which is good for Ricky as well as it is good for Ronnie to Spar someone as good as Ricky. I think Ricky may well do it and go down as Scotland's greatest ever boxer and I hope he does. As for Ronnie he is still learning and has all the attributes to go to the top!!
