That's all my opinion is based on as well and the fact Ricky has had more world title fights with plenty more to come, listen Ken was a smooth smooth operator and a joy to watch, I wouldn't ever try to belittle the great things Ken has done for himself,Scottish and UK boxing the guys a legend but I firmly beleive Ricky Burns will unify the LW division then win a title at LWW

I think he did.If I remember rightly,he boxed Guts Ishimatsu. But it was in Japan and he'd gone downhill a bit by then.Like a lot more,I think he went on a bit too long. Also made a comeback with varying success, lost to a couple he never would have at his peak.

PS.Showing my age a bit now but I remember Sugar Ray Robinson at the end of his career. He used to be on Fight of the Week on Saturday afternoons on the BBC.Even though he was a shadow, don't think any of the young pretenders stopped him.Buchanan was the same.

Buchanan great fighter a natural talent credit to Scottish boxing and deserves all the plaudits he rightly gets.

With Burns his transformation these last few years has been a real joy to watch.Who would of thought after the Johannson fight he would of done what he has so far?Worked at his trade got better & better become a champion & for me best of all kept his feet on the floor.

If the Gonzales fight had turned out the other way a lot of the critics wouldn't of said Burns was unlucky to lose his conditioning, gameplan, heart etc.etc would have been bought up.

Last word on Buchanan back in the day harder to get another title shot anyone watching his fight v Duran knew he was top drawer.Easier fights out there for fellow ranked fighter let alone title holders.

Billy im sure there was no other champion at lightweight for Ken to fight, there was only the two titles back then. Ken lost the WBA and WBC titles to Duran, and they refused the rematch. In those days there was no paper titles. Buchanan still went on to fight better quality of fighters than the likes Vasquez or Abril, those guys wouldnt have held a title back in Buchanans day. The young Jim Watt Buchanan fought would have beat those two quite handily imo.

Spot on! It was 3 years after the Duran fight that Ken fought Ishimatsu for the WBC, and alot of people thought Ken was robbed, from what ive read anyway. Need to watch that one :good
