They became world champs fair enought but there no Roberto Duran are they. What do they say :- Don't mess with Scottish people as they are temperamental !! Half temper and the other half mental !!
Furthermore Ryan, Scott confirmed that back in 2012 he agreed a fight with Mitchell as a warm up to bigger things, and whilst Scott was in training camp Mitchell withdraw from fight. So reality downed on Mitchell that he would have to share a ring with an older Scott Harrison who was only just back after a near 7 year absence and he still didn't fancy it. Kastidas who was never world class knocked Mitchell out in 3 in front of his own fans, Ricky beat him in 4, and in his last fight Mitchell was about 7-8 rounds behind as ref stopped fight 4 secs before end of round, with Mitchell at other side of ring from opponent. Mitchell is good to watch, but well short of world class its not true
i seriously can't understand how you thing Katsitas wasn't world class, he gave JMM a great fight a dropped him heavily and he's a P4P fighter. I thought Ricky boxed great against him and to be honest got way more credit in England than he ever did in Scotland
Ok maybe shouldn't mention Mitchell but everyone expected Katsidis to spark Ricky and hit too hard for him but as soon as Ricky wins Katsidis is shot makes you laugh.
true mate, another one was Moses he was very good and I think people expected Ricky to win easy, I never and it turned out to be a real good fight
Kastidas was great value to watch, was a good fighter, but never more than fringe world class at best. I agree Ricky done well v him, boxed a clever fight to the right tactics. Remembered me of Mitchells best careers win v Prescott, were there was good radar jabs going in and lateral movement v come forward fighters who lack good footwork. It was actually one of Rickys best performances, if he fought like that v Zlaticanin he would have won.
I fancied Ricky to beat him if he stuck to the tactics I thought Billy would give him to follow, and he done so, so he won, and won comfortable in my opinion. Most people I know fancied Ricky to win, as Ricky was at his pomp, Kastidas had poor footwork, blocks punches with his face. Kastidas was like a superior version of John Murray, though he was really exciting to watch, and was still a good fighter with a great engine
Billy do you think we missed out on Ricky in his prime when he had that layoff after the Mitchell fight before his move to Matchroom?
to be honest before the Crawford fight Ricky was looking as good as I'd seen him, in his words the camp was great! When Ricky joined Matchroom I specifically said Ricky isn't great against southpaws to EH yet he's faced 3 from 4 not exactly listening to the people who worked with him daily
But Billy in fairness when I pointed this out to you, you denied it. Said I knew nothing about boxing.. I think when everything is Rosey in the garden you overlook the problems. I in honesty after following Ricky from early doors feel that the fame has got to him. He was out on the pitch at football/ Rugby games making public appearances. That just wasn't Ricky Burns. He's a honest pro who got so far through hard work and dedication no thrills . I think a lot was down to very good tactics and the fact Billy knows Ricky so well.. I think we have a mix of fans here ones who don't like Scott and ones who think he is the 2nd coming.. This fight is simple if Ricky can deal with Scott's pressure he wins very very easily.. That's what makes the fight interesting Ricky has been struggling with pressure
no your very wrong there David, Ricky handles pressure very well and making these appearances were forced upon him but I think he enjoyed to be fair. The fight is very very simple Scott won't handle Ricky's speed will get marked up and stopped by the ref to avoid taking more punishment
Katsidis was a good win for Burns IMO. At the time I thought it was a 50/50 fight with Burns slightly favourite, but now when you look at it Katsidis took a severe beating off Marquez which obviously took a lot out of Katsidis seen as he went on to look absolutely shot in losing every round badly against Albert Mensah in his next fight after Burns. It looks like Frank Warrren got Katsidis at the right time for Ricky.
People may see Ricky fighting Scott has a mismatch given he got well beat by Walsh and Ricky's better than him, same sort of Sanrio your painting for Kats. The bottom line is Scott desperately needs Ricky not the other way round and to think otherwise is simply stupid
Top boys! Zlaticanin ain't a top boy, far from it. He certainly ain't better than the top domestic LW in the UK.
