Next Friday he is fighting Leva Kirakosyan for the Euro title. Well this guy is no joke, I just watched him give Carl Johanneson a beating (I will upload the fight to YouTube if anyone wants me to) and he is a very big puncher for the weight + fast hands. Lawton is a good boxer, as seen in the in the Matthews and Thaxton fight, but he doesn't have the power in his shots IMO to keep this guy off him for 12 rounds. The only hope is that Kirakosyan has deteriorated since the Johanneson fight (he has lost on points since then and has not fought in a meaningful fight for 2 years), but the guy looks a step too far for Lawton. Although I hope I am wrong, it could be brutal.

Was guttd for Carl that night. I was also gutted the sky team did not pick me oput but anyway....Carl has a glass body and any punches there stop him.
i remember that fight. it was the second time johanneson had been knocked out by leva, and you could see he just didn't look very confident in there. didn't gomez ko kirakosyan several years back?
Yep, I'm in the process of getting that fight. I haven't seen it, but surely the styles gelled to make it a good fight? :yep
I remember Dave Darts mentioning before this fight that Leva had shared an Olympic ring with De La Hoya
Sorry Jeff but your new name kinda makes me think you are into shitting games too much... Anyway... I am going for a Lawton UD in this fight.
I have a sneaky feeling for Lawton in this one. Hate to drone on, but this just proves how shockingly bad a promoter Hennessy is. I know Lawton has dropped down to 130, but he was thrashed by Murray less than a year ago..... and only has a rebound win against Derry Mathews to his credit - yet his promoter can secure a title fight. Murray is still treading water, with no fights lined up.
Kirkosyan gave Carl his first defeat and a bad KO on an ESPN card in the US some years ago... If you get the chance to watch it CJ's legs are all over the place, not as bad as Trevor Berbick but a proper wobble...:yep I said on another thread that some people have just got your number and he has Carls...:yep Unless Lawton can show some real resistance to Leva I am not convinced that this is good match making...:huh Leva is very technical, superbly fit and has great punching ability in either hand...:bbb :bbb I think it will be a TKO whenever Leva decides to go for it...:yep
True , but the fight Leva lost to was a very good fighter called Sergey Gulyakevich who is rated in the top 10 and would be world champion had he not had a home town decision go against him in Mexico .... so no disgrace ! .... but i agree if the Kirak who beat CJ gets into the ring then Lawton faces a bad night ....
I reckon Hatton might have pulled a blinder and know something we dont about Leva :yep Scott has been in with better quality fighters in the last 2 years and I reckon he is in for a better chance then we think in this fight... Usually as a SFW you would expect a fighter to deteriorate between the ages of 33 and 36 so I can see a Lawton win for sure
