The weight of the evidence-see my recent thread-seems to suggest he was born around or in 1930.
You cannot determine how old he is just by how he appeared.
People often look somewhat older or younger than they are, especially aging faster if living hard & a drinker like Liston.

Also there is just not that gig a difference between 32 & what he would have been if born between 1928-1930 as you believe.
There is no way...You can say no way to one age & accept the other.

I changed my mind. Liston was 99 years old when he fought Ali in 1964. Records have appeared that place Liston's date of birth as January 1, 1865.

I don’t know how old he was, but he got his ass kicked.

All of the evidence is flawed ... none of these cases have any legs .. the man and his own mother didn't even memorialize it .. no records, too many kids ..

Great, you backed off the mistaken notion that you can tell if someone is 2-4 years from what they are listed as by appearances alone.
Now just show us the evidence that Liston was born during the Civil War.
Was his Daddy a Union Soldier?

Liston is the love child of @Oddone and Harriet Tubman.

There is posibility that Sonny's father actualy fought in civil war.
Tobi was 70 years old when he died in 1947 which make him born in 1877 or before that!
    Yaqui Wars
    (1896–1918)
    Pine Ridge Campaign
    (1890–1891)
    Garza Revolution
    (1891–1893)
Maybe he was in one of these.

Liston of Martin fight would get beaten by Quarry,Shavers,Ali,Foreman,Frazier,Holmes,Young,Bonavena.
If Liston fought in the 70s he wpzld face them and lost badly.
Prime for prime only Foreman,FOTC Frazier, prime Holmes and Quarry 50/50 that they would beat them.
    Ali would beat him 100/100!

Oh, I thought you were saying a prime Liston would lose to Shavers and Quarry. The above scenario you posted is very reasonable (with the exception of Quarry at even odds).

I don't think either Jerry or Shavers would have got around Liston's jab. Jerry in particular gets busted up. The Martin ko happened when Sonny had to be close to 40 in a fight he was winning, not a fair analogy.
