Frazier stayed on his feet much longer than Ledoux managed to in their second bout. As a matter of fact, Frazier stayed on his feet longer than any defeated opponent of Foreman between Peralta and Young and was the only one to answer the bell for the fifth round without having been dropped. That is something that gets seriously overlooked.

doesn't necessarily mean anything; Joe naturally had lowered defenses early in a fight and was vulnerable, not to mention much smaller than Foreman; I think the fact that a prime, young LeDoux lasted part of a round longer than an aging Joe Frazier is a miniscule and pathetic detail worth overlooking

A better comparison is that LeDoux and Frazier both fought Foreman in 1976, two months apart. Frazier lasted longer than LeDoux then.

I wouldn't call Denis, Boudreaux, and especially Bobick "no hopers." All were prospects; Denis made it to the top 15, Boudreaux made it into the top 10 (and the LeDoux bout was a horrible decision anyway), and Bobick made it into the top 5. "Guys who ultimately didn't pan out," maybe.

Scott does have that win over then-undefeated Marty Monroe, who was a rated prospect. He also has some wins over once decent names on his record, though they were on the way down when LeDoux beat them. I'd be curious if LeDoux was "supposed" to beat them.

It's a testament that LeDoux made it as far as he did, training in his own garage, sparring with locals, and I think managing himself. The fact that he kept getting TV fights against big names is pretty impressive.

His most memorable accomplishment was knocking off Howard Cosell's toupee after the Boudreaux fight.

LeDoux was a very tough guy with decent skills, decent not terrific power and a long reach that helped him .. he was not that quick and he could be hit but he was more of a fringe contender than a journeyman in my opinion .. he fought a lot of tough guys .. Lyle was old but still in the game .. Norton was still good enough to a year later fight a very fast paced fight and win a decision over a then undefeated Tex Cobb .. He was a border line top ten guy that could be competitive depending on the stylistic match up ..

Actually Scott was much tougher than a journeyman fighter in that LeDoux never fell into the mental state of "showing up to get a check" or "just wanting to go the distance". LeDoux always tried to win his fights. He certainly was physically limited, not quick with his hands, nor feet, did not have heavy hands, limited overall boxing skills, but he tough mentally and physically. He was good for the sport of boxing.

    This.

It’s easier to last rounds as a journeyman who is approaching it as a ‘live to fight another day, survive-cash-check-move-on-to-next-check’ proposition.

When you come to fight and come to win, you’re putting yourself in the line of fire of those top-tier guys.

Prospects-I suppose. But aside from several "decent" wins here and there, none of them ever beat a fighter worth mentioning imo.
