Scott Quigg to step it up

Quigg's a good little fighter. Only young, should have a good future as a small man on the European scene at least.

 

Really good to hear - I like the look of Quigg, so this is the perfect time for a step up in opponent.

 

Very promising youngster who as said should at least make it to European level. He's enjoyable to watch too and this should be a great little scrap with the tough Voronin.

 

I like Quigg and hope he does well. Euro is well within his capabilities. Did you lads know that Brian Hughes went on holiday last week and isn't back until the day of the weigh in ??

I'd imagine that McDonagh and Quigg aren't too happy about this :-(

How do you know what they would think? Do you know whether they have training plans in place and prepared already?

 

'Lucky', just read your post history and you have just three posts and two of them are disparaging remarks about Brian Hughes. Just mentioning it, like.:good

 

Damian, are you serious ? I think i clearly stated that I IMAGINE they wouldn't be happy.

And I would be more suprised if they wasn't bothered than I was on hearing about Hughes' trip :shock:

 

I would imagine that they have good trainers in the club like Pat Barrett who is perfectly capable of overseeing the training. I would imagine that much of the preparation/tactics have already been done before the last two weeks of a fight. I would also imagine that having your trainer back on the night of the fight is equally reassuring.

I'm taking nothing away from Barrett here and if they win then all the better. But IMO it's just not professional of Hughes to have gone and left his boys before what is essentially a huge night for them both :good

 

Dan, Hughes has been in charge as head coach at Collyhurst for nearly 40 years. I don't think you have the right to question his 'professionalism.' As I understand it, he works closely with Pat Barrett and others to deliver the training. Manny Steward is renowned for only arriving at a training camp a week before a fight with some of his fighters. Does that make him unprofessional?
