Didn't see the fight last night but have heard very little about it, on news sites and on here. How did the fight go, how did Quigg look, was a draw fair?

He did OK, but I think he'll be a little disappointed.

It was pretty obvious that his plan was to take Salinas into the later rounds and come on strong, which he did, but if your plan is based on superior fitness then you need to make your opponent work a bit early in the fight too so he's struggling. Quigg barely threw a shot in the first 3 rounds, so Salinas had just about enough left in the later rounds.

I had Quigg by 1 round, but nearly all of them were close so you can't knock a draw.

Just to state, i do like Quigg a lot, but he cannot complain about the draw last night.

I personally had it 1 round to Quigg, but there was definetly an argument for giving Solinas the first 6 rounds.

Quigg literally did NOTHING for the first 6 rounds and got got picked off by what looked like a very good amateur boxer.

Once Quigg actually applied some pressure the fight changed completely. Solinas who had a striaght up amateur style could not fight inside. Quigg won the every round from 8 to 12 with relative ease and looked the absolute boss. But its the first 6-7 rounds where the problems where.

I hate to say it as Quigg is a nice lad. But he's really just a poor mans Ricky Hatton with fantastic cardio.

His lack of amateur experience shone through for me last night as he looked utterly clueless for the first 6 rounds against the cuban. While 99.9% of other boxers have done their learining process and losing in the amature ranks, Quigg has to do it all in the pro game, and in the public eye. I for one fear for him when he comes up against a tricky customer that doesnt just stand in front of him.

If you compare him to say Carl Frampton. Frampton has fought all these tricky Cubans and numerour other top ranked amatuers, he knows already what they bring to the table while Quigq does not.

If Quigg fights Frampton next, he'll be the first boxer to lose a world title without ever winning it, and retaining it with a draw. Now thats confusing :patsch

Remember guys Quigg is not a World Champion, ignore his words and the words of Sky, Rigo is the WBA champ.

I scored it a draw but i can see Quigg 7-5, as he dominated the later rounds. he was either 6-1 down or 5-2 down after 7 rounds.

personally i dont see the draw at all!!!

the first 6 rounds were nip and tuck ,not mush in any round but quigg upped his workrate and dominated second half of fight...

salinas maybe won 2-3 clear rounds
    quigg maybe 5-6 clear rounds

he stuck completely to a game plan that perhaps looking back was a bit too conservative early on..

a lot like a Froch fight

It was amazing, 6 KD's and blood all over the place. It was fight of the century.

I completely agree, while Quigg definately got fenced in the first few rounds, he took over the fight clearly in the latter half imo, Salinas looked very uncomfortable once Quigg pushed pushed the pace, eve ndoing the silly "smiling as if to express how much you aren't bothering me when you clearly are"

7-5 Quigg on balance, he deserved the victory

    Frampton batters him though

He should have won, unfortunate result, especially considering how much scandal there has been with decisions lately

definately shouldn't have given away those early rounds though, then the fight was in the bag for him

As for Salinas, a good boxer, but doesn't have the legs of a Rigondeaux or even a Frampton, and you can tell he hates pressure, Kiko Martinez would have given him fits in there

I had it Quigg 7-5 comfortably and felt a draw was unkind to him but it was a close fight. It was obvious he had a plan and was sticking to it but should have kicked on a round or two earlier to avoid controversy etc. He will be back better next time and I bet he feels he could have done so much more last night.

If you had it 7-5, a draw isn't being unkind, you only have to find 1 other round for Salinas which in your own words was a close fight. Your post was confusing.

He won the last 5 rounds though, so you are right in that he should have started his run a round earlier.

I heard VV@rren, Hearn x2 and McGuigan all jumped in at the end of it and that the first 6 rounds were on Boxnation while the second 6 were on Sky Box Office. Can you confirm?
