Pretty franking bad though. No common sense, and no professional sense from the ref. Scott was clearly not in bad shape. For the guy to wave it off as he counted 9 and the guy was on his feet is pretty poor. That being said, Scott should have the sense to get up a shade earlier.
The whole thing looked dubious. Aside from the grazing blow and quick count, what struck me as very odd is that I didn't see Chisora really celebrate like his usual obnoxious self. He didn't look happy. I think he need it was ****.
If Scott is up by 10 then it's a count out. Why is that so difficult to understand? He's gotta be up by 9, not start getting up by 9. You start getting up by 9 and you are telling the ref you got nothing left. by the time you are up and ready, it's 10. That's too late! As for Scott, I just think he didn't want it. Could have been a dive for all we know (Not that we ever will know!) then takes a knee and gets counted out. Then picking up his nice little paycheck and get the hell out of the UK. Even had the nerve to ask for another payday!
But he put the ref under a lot of pressure, he's just called 9, and Scott is only starting to make a move. Not good enough. You don't leave it that late. The ref was in his face whilst giving him a clear count, and the guy is still on knee having a picnic. Come on! you are pretty much saying to the ref I am done, and getting up in the end just looks an empty gesture. He should have popped up at 8, the ref would have asked him if he is ok, that gets him a few more seconds. The guy just didn't want any more. Boxed a few rounds, made it competitive, and then bailed. Pretty shameful performance to be honest.
Bull****, you must be british. The ref was in the middle of counting 9 as Scott rose to stand and the ref waved it off. Typical British quick stop. The UK has the quickest and most controversial stoppages on the planet. I don't think any international big fights should happen there. Don't count on seeing Ward fight Froch in britian.
Don't know how anyone can watch that and find that the ref made the right or just call. I mean, yes, Scott should have gotten up earlier, but the ref waved it off before he had a chance to finish his own count. Made no sense.
Really dude? Come on it was a grazing shot and a lean.... He didn't get hit with a ko shot and he was definitely winning the fight...
Scott is a sore loser. Scott said he was the best heavyweight in the world and would knock both Klitschkos out easily. Chisora would have knocked Scott out anyway, even if the ref had not stopped it. There is some talk of a rematch. Remach, Chisora by knockout. Scott is a fraud.
Page 26 http://www.wbo-europe.com/files/file/wbo_rules.pdf Appears to be a gap in the WBO rules on how to deal with a fighter getting up between 8 and 10.
"The last number he counted was 9. Scott was quite clearly up." He started to get up at 9, ref should have gave him benefit of teh doubt but he was not up at 9 he had just started to get up.
its 9 then he waves his hands for 10 its not 10 then wave the fight off. 10 is the wave off idiots if you only start to get up at 9 you are running the risk ref taking to much flak IMO Malik bottled it pure and simple
