big enough to warrant it's own website? me and a friend have been toying with the idea of setting up a site that reports exclusively on Scottish boxers/boxing in Scotland as a way of showcasing some of our talent up here, as well as typical articles looking back at fighters from the past and the like. Do you actually think there would be enough interest from readers/contributors/ co-operation with fighters/promoters etc. to warrant a site solely for boxing north of the border? Or is it something that most Scottish fight fans will pick up from their usual boxing news and information sources?
Well that could be soemthing that could be integrated into the site... if some type of ranking system was agreed upon by fellow scots.
Why not, boxingireland.com was set up a while ago, and from what ive heard they get a lot of visitors and feedback. If you make proper use of technology to market your site, facebook, youtube etc and can actually get some interviews with Scot boxers, im sure you could have a some amount of success.
because Im not inovlved in the British boxing scene it will be tough, and my friend is more involved in the MMA scene but is also a boxing fan - although I do have interview experience etc. Nowadays I also live in Shetland, so its not easy to travel back and forth tot the mainland with work etc. for any interviews, events etc. I may start the site myself focusing mainly on news and bits and pieces I write, and hope that I can gain some contributors and get the ball rolling from there...
Include a forum, & do not make the mistake of having two different forums for pro & amateur boxing. Scottish boxing is too small to split forums up, just make it one big exclusive one. Get the ams & pro fans all talking together, & you have a chance of expansion. Scottish boxing is SO minority in Scotland though that you will have to be patient. My wee bit of advice.
Even if its soemthing I never get around to, I think Scotland could use an online boxing community of its own.
Manchester? Its completely different and you know it... just thought it would be an oppurtunity for some exposure to the guys who dont get covered on sites like ESB and the scene.
Too right mate good idea :good Britains greatest fighter (arguably) was Ken Buchanan and with Ricky Burns plying his trade so well its worth a shot.... ask BIlly Nelson on ere for a few pointers ... You do historic Scottish fighters throo to the up and coming talent north of the border...
Honestly, I don't think so. The guys who aren't covered by British sites wont pull in the clicks, it's too niche. Irish is different in that it's not covered by British boxing sites.
