You really are a fud and I see youve made a lot of enemies in this thread already. My laughter directed at Colin Jones was for you making out he was genuine world class, sorry pal but he wasn't, no ****ing way. Get a grip and stop bringing my name up constantly , it takes two to tango. Like we said, dont speak to me again, dont reply to my posts and i'll do the same for you. Do you not think its strange that Ive only had a problem with two people on here, you and greengloves, and even then, greengloves is an ok guy. Says a lot, not that Im a ''cocky youngster''. I have a lot of friends on ehre or people im cool with, you are the only one I dislike. Why do you think that is?
It's obvious to me - its a clash of ego. I seen a couple of your pictures in the picture thread - I got a impression of the type of guy you are. If we met in a real life and you had no idea I was FLINT ISLAND we would still be at odds with each other because it's a clash of ego between two certain types of people who don't get on. I know this because I have had ego clashs with similar types like you. This is the last post I will write about you Smith - as we both agree on something at least - lets just leave each other alone and life here on ESB will be alot simpler.
Roy Jones never liked the cold either - he refused to come to New York in the winter until the latest possible time - then he destroyed Merqui Sosa in two rounds - you calling him a girl too - the best pound for pound boxer of the last 20 odd years? I dont mind, winter, rain, thunder, lightning. But I hate the cold.
Jones was very much a world class fighter. He drew with McCory first time round, then pushed him to a close decision in the return. When he fought Curry, he got cut early and the fight was stopped, before Jones could get into the contest.Jones was only 26 when he retired due to constant back trouble. In todays era, he would be a world champion.I,m positive of that.:deal
Why you trying to convince me, Ive seen over a dozen Colin Jones fights and to me he was not world class, personal opinion, no offence to anyone, just how I analyse my fighters.
Because someone that drew in a world title fight in an era when there was only two champions, must have been world class to achieve such a feat.So I,m questioning your analytic process.
I agree Colin wan the European title in 2 brutal rounds smashing out the long reigning champion in his home ground in Copenhagen Colin was also the youngest ever British boxer to go the Olympic Games in 1976 Colin was young British Boxer of the year in 1980 Colin and McCory fought two very close fights And here is the key - Milton McCory leading up to the Colin Jones fight was the rising star of American boxing - he fought out the Kronk Gym - regualrly sparred with Thomas Hitman Hearns - and was undefeated - and knocking people out left right and centre - Colin got the better of him alot of times - he nearly stopped McCory in the second fight - but he held on and came back. Also Colin fought a undefeated and prime pound for pound king Don Curry and was stopped on a cut. Colin was never knocked out or counted out, or stopped - apart from a cut. And of course he twice smashed out Kirkland Lang and then Lang went over to America and outclassed all time great Roberto Duran. This reflects well on Colin. In todays sport Colin would easily pick up a paper world title - his European title back then was worth far more than all these paper titles out there today. Colin Jones would have knocked out Ricky Hatton up at welterweight too - there are lots who agree with me on this - and Hatton is considered world class. Jones was not a fancy boxer or anything like that - but he had the grit and power to be a threat to any welterweight in the world including Sugar Ray Lenoard who opted to vacate his belt rather than fight Colin Jones. And acknowledged that Colin Jones was a threat because he was a excellent fighter
Oh christ, you are delusional, he had eye problems which prompted him to vacate Colin Jones is nowhere near a great British fighter, unfortunately. He was simply good, not in the league of Buchanan who you try to discredit miserably
