Anyone remember Scotty Olson? He's an overlooked Canadian Flyweight contender from the 90s who fought tooth and nail in the ring. He also fought Michael Carbajal but lost via stoppage. As his nickname suggested he was indeed a bulldog in the ring where he constantly came forward pounding away his opponents. A very entertaining lower weight fighter who gave as much as he could.

I remember him mainly b/c a boxing mag from that decade (I forget which 1) ran an extensive piece on him.

he gave Carbajal a nip & tuck battle before succumbing late, which laid the blueprint for how a shorter, crowding fighter could trouble Carbajal & foreshadowed his subsequent loss to Baby Jake Matlala.

Olson also fought Carbajal in the amateurs and chose to drop down to Light Flyweight to challenge him as a way of wanting to "avenge" his loss but just fell short (no pun intended). Matlala was able to show how it was done by not giving Carbjal any room for his power shots and overwhelming him in the pocket.

I seen dude at the Edmonton lrt (light rail transit) bulldog was in good shape, looked very tiny obviously, spotted him right away. I was already on the bus as I caught a glimpse of him at the station, I know for sure it was him!

Whoa! Haven't thought about that dude in forever. He seemed always be on TV in the 90's. Entertaining fighter who gave it his all. Had some pop for a flyweight, too.

Kinda reminds me of Frankie Panchito Warren, short stature, some pop,and fell off as short as their height in potential big win/upsets.

What an excellent Flyweight battle this one is. Both fighters dropped and hurt with ebbs and flows for 10 rounds. Olson is quite a crowd pleaser.

And yet another good bruising fight. With the kind of entertaining fights that he brings as well as having a lot of his fights broadcasted I’m surprised he doesn’t get talked about much.

Olsen was a very good & honest fighter, an opponent to anyone in a fight, Win or Lose.

Everything one should expect in a true fighter!
