In the old days, they would fight sometimes ten times per year. We're lucky if a star takes two consecutive tough fights now.

It's not that I don't necessarily disagree with you. I just think, if a fight is close, well, then it was close. We can't expect two guys to fight until there is a decisive winner. It just may never happen.

I watched the fight again last night with the sound turned down and pen and paper.
I agree completely with the 115-112 scores. SD was very aggressive but Jacobs was
    sharper.

If Jacobs can't line up a more lucrative or important fight first than sure why not. That being said Golovkin and Canelo are both huge money fights that want his strap, Andrade for unification would be cool, Charlo is out there yapping for a fight maybe that could be made, even poleaxing Lemieux would make more money than a rematch.

Such is boxing, what an awful sport it is at times,MMA has more integrity that this cause at least they are made to fight the best.
I look at Kanat Islam as another one of those risk n reward type guys, awful how they deprived of making the money the others are on.

But there are good news as well. Eddie has retweeted Serg' post claiming that he has a big future. I hope he has some kind of a plan for Derevyanchenko. :smoking:
It's only speculation, of course, but why would a busy top promoter waste his time retweeting a boxer's tweet if he doesn't intend to work with him (to some extent, at least)?

So why didn't GGG give Jacobs a rematch?

Because Jacobs was beaten fair & square. He went the distance which gained him some type of moral victory in the detractors eyes & somehow equated to a robbery warranting a rematch.. Sure I'd watch again if they did but in no way do I feel it warrants one performance wise. Competitive yes, close? No. Watched it twice, first time I had it GGG by 3 points, second time GGG by 4... Jab clinic, dropped, out landed, out boxed & out thunk. GGG beat him in nearly every department. One of GGGs best BOXING performances IMO along with the Canelo rematch ..

This fight was closer... Canelo GGG 2 was closer. Jacobs LOST legit to GGG though.

yes that sounds very promising and who knows with DAZN the more we get these big fights and get away from the Floyd era of protecting that zero at all costs it may just help stop the obvious corruption going on.

Funny how the fans don’t give a damn about losses so long as they fighting the best, guys like Hagler,Leonard ect have everyone’s respect more so than Floyd imo.

I'm not suggesting it wasn't legit, no different than Danny won this fight legit, close and competitive sure...and maybe a rematch is warranted somewhere down the road but he deserves his money fight, if he can get it.

I didn't suggest he did need to, I was responding to someone else who said that a close/competitive fight should demand a rematch.

It was a fun fight to watch, I thought Jacobs won it clearly enough that it should have been unanimous. As far as action and adjustments go, it might warrant a rematch, but there is so much talent at 160 right now that I'd rather see Jacobs pursue bigger fights.

I'd rather see Jacobs move on to bigger and better things.
