Season II of the WBSS starts this week and still no UK broadcaster announced

i think so, ITV said on friday that "they hoped it would be back", it starts on Sunday and i've still not heard anything. Their twitter page has been inundated with questions about it, yet still no answer.

 

I was just thinking this. Waiting to see their PPV numbers from the weekend? Let's be fair if they cannot sell that fight, they have no chance with anything else.

 

I know nothing about this...

 

This is the problem eith WBSS. ITV could have been a good tv partner but their never fully got behind it, practically no promotion. Box Nation should buy it, make a big difference to their subscription levels.

 

ITV have done a **** poor job at promoting the WBSS and boxing in general. Groves vs Eubank had some buzz, buy apart from that they've been very quiet.

 

I'm not sure ITV will pick it up they won't be able to milk as many PPV because there aren't as many big names this year.

 

In fairness they made absolutely no effort to promote the fact Usyk was fighting, so cannot see that being an issue.

 

I was talking to somebody about this the other day and they said ITV pretty much got it for **** all. WBSS has to come as a full package so nobody else wanted it, meaning ITV got it for next to nothing and made money off it without actually doing anything!

 

Given that BT/Sky haven’t announced anything with WBSS I’d imagine ITV will show the tournament again with two PPVs per round.

There could be an issue with Josh Taylor/Cyclone’s TV contract- clearly Channel 5 would like his fights and nothing else but you have to buy the whole tournament.

I hope so. It's on DAZN in the states so I was hoping Sky would pick it up here but it seems not.

 

Eubanks vs De Gale in December means they will attempt another PPV.

Now that is not a fight I am paying for.

The problem the WBSS has is it wants full control over the shows. Obviously the main event but then a standby fight on there too and everything else. Warren and Hearn can’t commit to 18 extra dates (I think that’s how many?) a year which they can’t have any control over as they have their own quota to fill. There is going to be date clashes etc.

Prime example was Callum Smith’s Liverpool fight in the tournament. Eddie had the echo arena the week before or week after. In reality the best solution would be for WBSS to work with sky (or Warren). WBSS handle the main production and set up with a couple of sky staff on there and Matchroom control the undercard (or change it for Warren/BT/Boxnation/etc). You get the promotion from SKY or BT during the football etc too then.
