Because there's no mandatory positions, promoters get to choose the opponent. Why would a promoter fly in a top Aussie, when they can fight a Brit or a cheap African?

Ippy I recognise and respect the sport of boxing as the hardest sport of all and believe that the millions the top fighters earn is well deserved but I would think if a fighter was hungry enough he would travel to fight for the money a promoter would pay a Brit or an African if he were that dedicated in his quest to capture the Common wealth title . Did Alex get knocked back by Fury or was the money not enough for Alex to travel ?

Nobody over there returns Noel's phone calls about fighting Alex mate. He'd love to fight for the honour of the Commonwealth title.

Might be a case of who needs that ? But would Alex travel here and would he fight for the same money as this Russian fella is fighting for Ipp ?

Who is Noel trying to get in contact with Maloney or the BBB of control ? Either should respond, even if it's to refuse .

Didn't the Commonwealth belt lose its luster because of the practice of using the ref as the only judge?

Look at it any way you want fella's but josey is 100% correct , most of the fighters here would be nothing but expensive cannon foddere for the commonwealth champs, and has ippy said why go to Aust when you can to africa or home ,

and get more competetive cannon fodder

But the odd few we have who may be competetive will not risk it they want to protect there padded records and go the regional route

Regards Alex fighting Fury forget it there a world class apart , and has far has the poms don't return my calls .... Well Noel is a very good trainer/manager he knows his job , he knows what to say , he knows how to play the games , in fact i would go has far to say that if he based hiomself in the uk he would end up with a very very solid gym of champions ,

But he's not , he's here and he's playing the game . They probably don't answer his calls because its the middle of the night and he don't leave his name ,

You couldn't be further from the mark in relation to Noel wanting Alex to fight for the title. Leapai isn't going to die wondering, that's for sure.

Funnily enough I was contacted yesterday about putting together a potential Commonwealth title shot. The team of the Aussie based boxer, who is highly ranked by a world governing body, are excited about the prospect of fighting for the title. Whether it all works out or not remains to be seen, but fighters are aware of the prestige of being Commonwealth champion and so are the promoters.
