Second best heavyweight of the 1970's

Let's not forget that those are the official records, but in the opinion of many in this forum, Norton won 2 of 3 against Ali, because he was blantantly robbed at least once.

In my opinion, had Norton being granted with a 2nd victory against Ali, he would have a case as strong as Big George or Joe to be the third best 70s fighter, after Ali (1rst) and Holmes (2nd), because after all, Norton defeated Ali twice, while Joe just defeated him once and Big George never avenged the rumble in the jungle.

Not wanting to star a discussion. I am just giving Kenny some deserved appreciation

 

By these criteria, I think it has to be Foreman with his dominating ko's of Frazier (twice) and Norton.

 

What's even more incredible is the fact these guys fought each other all within a 6 year timeframe. And 3 of them were not even title bouts! That fact seems to get lost that these guys actually fought each other and then had rematches. Hardly sounds like recent boxing when we the fight fans have to wait 2 or 3 years for a solitary highly competitive bout to be made. And then, typically the loser disappears from the radar screen and is out of the mix.
