His offensive game is still as good as ever, but anyone who has watched him lately knows he is being shaken by shots he wouldn't have done a few years ago and his stamina is not what it was either. Yeah he can live with the Khans and Bradleys. A few years ago he'd have murdered them. I just don't want to see him ruin his resume and legacy in such bouts. I'd still heavily favour him to beat Khan (let's face it he would only need one good shot), but Bradley would be a tough ask at this stage, though doable.
Do you not think it may just be that he's taking shots a little fuller from better fighters which is giving the perception he's becoming 'chinny'? Just a theory and not something I necessarily take as fact. I don't think he ever would have murdered Bradley, because Timothy has proven himself a good fighter, but I certainly think he could have beaten him and maybe still can. As for Khan, we're yet to see what he can develop into so judgement will have to be reserved but at this stage you'd give Hatton a very good chance.
I think beating Bradley is far from a "given" for Hatton at this stage of his career. I'd def. fancy him against Khan.
Whats the big obssession with going out on a win? When youre done your done - defeat is a more natural way to go out on - showing you are handing over the mantle - and your day is done. Rather than just going out on some manfucatured easy victory against a easy opponnet. When Colin Jones lost to Don Curry that was it - he was done - 3rd world title fight - lost - it werent gonna happen - it was over - he didnt feel the need after such a big important fight to grab a easy opponnet and go out on a farewell win. Now not everyone has to follow the same blue print as Colin Jones - but it makes sense what he done. Hatton had a massive fight in Las Vegas - he got knock outed badly - time to say goodbye. What would a easy fight in Manchester really achieve? A real warrior goes out on his shield - not by bashing up some "farewell" opponet. Champions should reign until they are beaten - and when they are beaten well - should graciously accept their time is over - and step aside.
If Hatton fights on properly against the Timothy Bradleys and Junior Witters, etc - that is different. But I dont think he should have a "farewell" fight against a bum.
I've said it many times and I still believe Bradley will be found out very soon, most probably by Nate. The winner of that fight is perfect for Hatton, IMO, should he choose to fight on. Obviously if Witter regains the WBC title then that would be an old grudge match which would also be a perfect bout for Hatton. As for Khan, I'm eager to see how he fares against Kotenik first. The longer Hatton leaves this decision, the more I think he'll return.
Possibly, but then again he was stung a couple of times by Lazcano from shots which had some meat behind them but were not massive. His defence is leaky and has been at the best of times which doesn't help, but is not something which is likely to improve if he fights on. He's basically the same old Hatton, if he's in a war he will revert to type. Bradley is a good fighter, but workmanlike, technically solid, but one-dimensional and not too much pop either, though good stamina. I think the Hatton of a few years ago would have bullied him to be honest. Holt looked a better fighter when he let his hands go, Bradley just outworked him to get the win. I think even now Hatton would be a big favourite over Khan if he comes back and looks half decent. His footwork was always good enough to close quick fighters down and it would only take one big shot to put Khan seriously on ***** street. However, as a fan and weighing up what even an early KO of Khan would do for his reputation (not much) against what a loss would do (it would basically be open season for the haters), I would rather he hung them up.
I don't want him to have a farewell fight against a bum either. However, if he does have one it will likely not be against a bum, but a decent top ten fighter who he should have too much for. Like Lazcano. Of course, where Hatton is concerned, even respected top ten fighters suddenly become "bums" to some people, but that level of opponent would be more than acceptable.
Hatton is a better fight than the hyped Khan But at this stage - Hatton could lose - from the outside - maybe a cut, etc On a photo before I was struck how much bigger khan was standing next to Hatton I think Khan would beat Hatton at this stage

But the point I meant was - his last fight was a huge fight in Las Vegas against Manny Pac He should just leave it at that Anything else from here - will be a much lesser fight to go out on.............
I agree with Flint, the obsession with going out on a win is silly, and dangerous Chances are he'll lose again, and then lose again, and eventually have to go out on a real sour note having taken more stick than he needed to He will never beat what he's already achieved so what's the point of fighting on? He should only take one more fight for my money and that should be Khan. If Khan loses to Kotelnik, turn it in. And the only reason I say that is a Khan-Hatton fight would transcend boxing and it would draw in a lot of casual fans to the sport.
Bradley would be a terrible risk because Bradley's type of guy to turn up and beat Hatton in front of 50,000 emotional Hatton fans he's got a strong professional job like mentality. Hatton can't bully him and Bradley has sharp punches and has quick feet and fights low to ground so his style would give Hatton problems.
Aye But I would rather Hatton fight a Bradley or a Witter meaning he is contiuining his career properly rather than just fight a bum as a farewell
I'd rather he fought a fight that was very winnable. As much as I don't like him, he doesn't need to get beat up at this stage. He also doesn't need to go out in America in 2 rounds. That would be an awful lingering memory. I think it is quite right he says fairwell to the fans that made him so much money. It's a careful balancing act. I think Khan would be perfect, on paper he's a lot more beatable than Tim Bradley, or Witter if he beats Alexander. They are really tricky contests. It has the added bonus of being a blockbuster, loads of money and hype. If not Khan, he could give a British 140lb'er an opportunity.
Bradley (IMO one of the most under-rated champs in the world right now) would deliver a very dangerous beat down to Hatton right now. There'd be no dramatic one punch KO to save Hatton from a sustained 12 round beating.
if Hatton goes on deluding himself that he's a top class p4p fighter then he'll get brutally exposed again and laid out with that jaw made of the very finest of china. If he really wants to get another win then he has to get back to fighting the bums he fought for most of his career.
