I was surprised by how composed he was, and when picking his shots he is almost perfect.

Im still not completely convinced on his defence at times, we have to consider that he wasnt fighting a Ward, Kovalev or Hopkins..

Cloud is extremely limited but Stevenson fought a perfect fight

News to me, I, along with most others (and the bookies) had Stevenson. In fact I coulda made some £s as I had it down as a rnd 7 tko in the fantasy betting :patsch - always the damn way.

To be fair however, Stevenson did show better skill than I expected, but possibly less power (though Cloud is known for his chin). It's hard to say how much is down to Clouds poor showing however. His stock took a big hit from the Campillo fight and the Hopkins loss, not to mention his long lay off.

Stevenson showed superb athleticism and decent footwork - I'd say he's an improving fighter - unsurprising despite his age, since he came to the sport so late. However on rewatching, he did get tagged a fair few times by Cloud and Tavoris' performance was not (quite) as bad as I first had it.

Intrestingly though, the big KO that many had been expecting did not come. I was one of many to feel that the Dawson KO was more of the flash 'caught cold' variety. Undoubtedly he hurt Cloud and was punishing him badly, but Cloud seldom looked in danger of ever being put away. Had it not been for the cuts I think a championship rnd TKO might have been likely (as in the George fight), though Stevenson already seemed to be slowing even after 7.

In brief, yes, Stevenson did impress, but I'm still not fully sold.

Oh yeah, and he is a scumbag. I may respect his ability as a fighter but I can't bring myself to root for him. If he could show the decency of offering a public apology to his victims and perhaps a purse donation to an appropriate charity it might help tho. Can't believe some morons on the RBR were actually saying he hadn't really done anything wrong - something like 'in Montreal our prostitutes do it 'cos they want to' - the gang he was part of was actually imprisoning young girls and forcing them into prostitution. I know it was along time ago, but still....ain't something easy to forgive - wonder what his victims think of his new found 'hero' status in the Canadian media?

Hate is a feminine emotion..especially when you don't even know the object of your scorn.

I wouldn't say Stevenson is a bum. But, other than having above average power, he is nothing special. And his stamina seemed poor as well. However, Cloud was in no position to take advantage of Stevenson's lack of condition. Cloud fought a horrendous fight on Saturday night. He would have lost to anybody in the top 10. If Stevenson fights Kovalev, I will give him a lot of credit. But, I find it unlikely we will get that fight. Instead, we will probably get Stevenson-Hopkins. And, as slow as Bernard's pace is at this point, he can probably still outpoint the limited Stevenson in a stinker. (I pick Kovalev by KO over Stevenson and by comfortable UD over Hopkins based on a much higher, and effective work rate)
