He also has 42 fights under his belt at 22. That's more than most fight their entire career.

Who has he beaten at a world class level that shows he's ready to fight Mayweather?

Or is the gulf between Mayweather and Trout that shallow?

Timing is everything. He's taking on an enormous challenge at the perfect time. Floyd has not taken a major slip in his performances, and some people even think he looked better against Ghost than he has in years, so a win over Floyd would earn FULL CREDIT. Also, Canelo obliged to a 2 pound catchweight.

Canelo just a beat, relatively easily, a slippery, defensive boxer who was MUCH bigger and likely more powerful than Floyd. That boxer was also undefeated and many people (dare I say most?) picked Fish to pull that fight out. Canelo won a lot of fans over and proved his legitimacy in my mind.

I'm not saying Canelo has faced the caliber of competition Floyd has at this point in their respective careers, but don't make the mistake that Canelo is some chump. He's going to have a massive size advantage, youth/age, hunger, power, and a nothing-to-lose mentality. And, at 42 fights, he's no rookie.

If he touches Floyd, it could be lights out.

Who could he have beat that would show he's ready?
Who had any of Floyds last few opponets beaten to show they were ready?

If he loses its not because he's green its because Floyd is better

So basically, your argument boils down to "young, hungry lion" redux.
