Seems Holyfield will only retire when he's carried out on a stretcher

How could he have possibly burned through 250 mil? Does it have to do with his family, or does he give it all to the church?

That was a baaaad cut last night! Hopefully next time he has a go, Holyfield has better luck.

I am irriatated that I thought it was Holyfield vs Danny Williams. They need to be more specific when advertising.

Could have gone various places. Some people point to his palace home, and he's probably employed staff and contractors for the keeping of such a place.
He's probably made some bad investments, people around Atlanta asking him to invest in various local ventures that he ends up losing out on. Basically giving it away.
And the church connection, almost certainly.

Like someone said, these guys have good hearts and no business education and end up trusting advice that they really shouldn't be listening to.

Not that I have much sympathy. But I can see how it happens.

    A couple of points.

The man earned over 200 million in his career, am I supposed to have sympathy for the fact he's terrible with money? please......

I don't know the amount of debt he's in but I'm willing to bet it's such a large sum that we'll be subjected to the equivalent of last nights farce for years to come.

Holyfield is entitled to live a long fruitful life for what he's given the fans. Those who support him fighting on are basically saying they're fine with the risks of pugilistic dementia, Parkinsons etc he's facing. Fighting on isn't doing his health any good.

Last night is a great example of what drives young people away from the sport. The more of these farces we endure the more boxing will suffer as a whole. Just because he gave us great memories doesn't give him the right to now tar the sport imo.

A world tour with book signings, TV appearances etc will probably bring Holyfield in as much money as he needs to get by.

Holyfield doesn't strike me as a smart guy.

I'm not sure Holyfield knows how to write. TV appearances? The man can barely speak. He has no discernible skills and is already too far past gone to develop any now. He is royally ****ed.

Some folk really get their knickers in a twist over veteran fighters..

If you don't want to watch it then fine, but don't try to dictate. It gets boring, and won't make a blind bit of difference. If the man wants to fight, he will.

A true fight fan would never, never disrespect Holyfield, regardless of their opinion on his career, personal life etc.

I did think about this but their must be a way. A biography removes the writing problem. As for the TV appearences.......... translator?

True fans who care about the boxers and sport want him to quit, it's not being disrespectful at all.

When Holyfield is being helped out of a chair and mumbling incoherently (He's already boarderline) 10 years from now remember your post.

A lot of people begged Ali to retire after Manilla (his own doctor included). They begged him again after Spinks II.
Look what it did to him.

Boxers need protected from themselves sometimes and for the good of the sport.
