Difficult fight for Froch. Martinez' foot speed would make him hard to pin down. He's a far better mover than Bute. Martinez does hold his hands low though, and Froch would find him. I think Froch wins by late stoppage, but that's not because I think Sergio Martinez is over-rated. I think he's excellent.
Froch tko's him late on after martinez outboxes him at the start but then runs out of stamina ala taylor. I disagree that martinez has amazing stamina at this stage I think he's been showing signs of slowing down and fading in fights.
I remember Dibella throwing this idea out. The logic was because Froch wasn't a "huge" SMW, so he was the one guy they were looking at. Froch would win though, IMO.
at 168 Froch kos him at 160 Martinez decisions him at 164 i think its all about how Martinez's stamina holds up if he gets tired like in the Jr fight he will get stopped if not he could decision Froch
I think Martinez will be stopped by Froch's vaunted bolo punch [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jojuTzEy--A[/ame] 42 seconds in:deal
I dont care if Martinez walks around at 185. Citing a fighters walking around weight is almost meaningless when discussing what weight they should be fighting at, especially when considering the walking around weight of guys like Froch, Bute, Andrade, ect. If you cant tell that the super middles are too big for Martinez, I dont know what to tell you. And citing him beating large middleweights in Jr and Pavlik, just goes to show you how much he shouldnt be fighting guys who couldnt even make the weight those fights were fought at. Martinez being able to beat Pavlik and Jr, is a testament to how good Martinez was, but certainly doesnt set the stage to go up and face guys a division higher, who are also leagues better. Also, him going to 168 for a huge paycheck also means nothing. Plenty of fighters will go wherever they need to for career high paydays. Fact is quite obvious, Martinez belongs nowhere near the guys who are currently at the top of 168, due firstly because of their size, and secondly because of the quality of fighter they are to go along with it. Fighting Pavlik and Jr at middleweight is one thing, fighting Froch or Ward at 168 is quite another. Not just because of the weight (and just a heads up, the jump from 160 to 168 is the biggest jump between weight divisions from those divisions down... make light of it all you want, but its a big jump, especially for a guy whos undersized against large middles as it is) but also because of the quality of fighter hed be facing in addition to their added size. Just a completely needless fight against a guy he should never be fighting. Plenty of good fights for him at 154 and 160.
IMO Martinez is too quick for froch.Martinez gets ahead on the scorecards early ,froch won't be able to keep up.
As for the actual fight. If they did fight, I think Froch TKO's him late. I think Martinez is starting to age, and I think he will find himself fatigued late against a big, strong guy like Froch who will be applying pressure in this fight. I think he does well early on but simply gets worn down. I think the Martinez that fought Pavlik could have maybe pulled off a win..... idk, but thats going on 3 years ago now, and with him coming back from surgery, gonna be even older, I just couldnt pick him for this fight. Id be rooting for him though, thats for sure.
I don't even see martinez outboxing him early as a certainty. Even a guy like macklin had some success in the early stages
