Seems very quiet a week before Fielding/Smith

Smith certainly has more talent but Rocky is the natural fighter. Im going with smith but i wont be putting any money on him

 

Rocky is the natural fighter?

Smith was brought up in a family of fighters... doesn't get much more natural than that.

 

I have a feeling Fielding will out_game and bomb Smith out in an exciting and entertaining 3 round war @33/1 (got a £10r on that), a lot of local pride on the line here and their won't be many backward steps between the two.

Both of them are fairly straightforward fighters without many layers or wrinkles to their game. Wasn't impressed by Smith against Rebrasse, and definitely give Fielding a shot. Depends on which guy is feeling it on the night. I give the edge to Fielding in that sense because you can tell he's looking forward to derailing the Smith train.

 

Callum Smith has very little head movement I think this will be his undoing eventually .......... just not sure that will come against Rocky. I hope it does though.

 

For me fielding has much faster hands and I like how he throws on the move coming forward. He can spoil and hold in close too which he's pretty good at. For me hes the superior boxer from range here. I think he will be on the back foot, snapping out a jab and smith will be trying to work his way inside. Fielding wins for me because I see him comfortably handling himself on the inside. I dont really think this is a close fight to be honest. Rebrasse is very average and basic, I consider Fiellding a level above Rebrasse.

 

There has been no excitement because this is a one sided bout. Smith will bury Fielding convincingly.

 

The more I think about this fight the more I think Rocky wins. Feel like he's better at letting his shots go from a neutral position whereas Smith has to set himself a bit more; which is why he often goes to the body.

Also has the devilish look in his eyes which suggest to me that he's the naturally more intelligent/mischevious fighter. Smith seems a bit robotic both in style and seems to lack that bit of devil and can imagine him being out-smarted street-wise in there. Fielding will be one step ahead.

 

In hindsight Groves performance against Rebrasse should have set alarm bells ringing

 

3-1 odds are very tempting.

 

I think this fight we will really find out how good Rocky is. Smith is excellent and will certainly catch RF with an array of shots. Fielding is made for body shots which Callum is superb at. Looking forward to this one, hope it is a classic.

 

For me it comes down to how is the fight going to be fought.

Fielding has shown good boxing ability and his default is to be moving, popping and jab and then throwing the right hand and sometimes throws some combinations. His feet don't need to be set to throw, he throws as he moves, reminds me of how Kovalev can keep moving and resetting his feet as he throws combinations if you know what I mean.

Smith is going to be outboxed as long as they are boxing from range. His jab isn't as good as Fieldings and he has much slower hands as well. He will be doing ok but getting visibly outboxed imo. When they do get inside I expect Fielding to hold/maul a bit as he has done in a few fights.

It's fielding on the backfoot outboxing smith for most of the fight for me. Whether he can land something and whether he can netrualize smith when get smith going is going to be interesting.

 

I can see Fielding playing possum a bit when the pace slows down as the fight progresses. He'll try and draw Smith in and look to clip him and hopefully stagger him, and then pile in. I don't think Fielding will be content to just out-box him as he'll probably think he'll get jobbed if it goes the distance.

Agree with Kovalev comparison; he has that unique ability to throw shots and move at the same time.

 

In my opinion Smith is overrated and Fielding is underrated, I think they're closer matched than many people feel. Obviously Smith is the favourite, but there's definitely some value in backing Fielding at the odds being banded about.
