I was just gonna bump my poll thread instead of starting a new one but it seems to have mysteriously disappeared? WTF? REALLY MODS? :patsch

Just seen Ward's manager will make the fight tomorrow if Curtis will do the $20 mill bet on Dirrell against Ward instead of Gamboa/May....

Seems like HBO is gunning for Pavlik vs Ward; Bute vs Froch, then winners face each other and the losers do the same.

2 paydays guaranteed if all parties agree...

Haven't heard that yet. Thanks for the info. I doubt this would be a double header because of the salaries involved. Would be nice though.

No double headers, just separate dates. Interbox has said that HBO has offered such possibility.

Most likely 4 separate dates for the 4 potential fights. At the very least, the first 2 fights would be on separate dates. It's only discussed up to now, there's nothing formal.

It adds a little incentive to make them happen, win or lose !

Well, after last night I expect Bute/Froch 2 to be more of the same and I don't know if Bute will be a compelling match up for Pavlik or Ward. Yeah, I'm being optimistic here. :D After last night even HBO might drop those plans unless they want to use Bute as an "opponent".

Who knows... I'd say they would definitely do Ward vs Pavlik & Bute vs Froch. The interest is there and the finances will make sense.

The follow-up to the results may well be a different ballgame though...:D

    Gah damn!

    Did Bute look THAT bad??

I had worked all day and made me a big as rib eye and all kinds of good ****, grubbed down and a little wine on the undercards...... And next thing I know the fight long over with. :cus:

I've seen bricks that exuded more confidence. To say he was gun shy would be one hell of an understatement. He went toe to toe in the 12 a little but this is a guy he possessed a sizable speed advantage over and yet wasn't letting his hands go. If you just compared faces at the end of the fight you wouldn't deem him the winner. He was pretty much hamburger.

He did seem gunshy, and this despite the fact that it seemed Grachev didn't seem to throw anything with any mustard on them. Didn't seem like he hurt Bute much, if at all, but still, to make a guy with the clear handspeed and power advantage so reluctant is cause for concern.

I like his chances vs Froch even less now.

Yeah, I was one of those not willing to write him off after the Froch fight too. Bad day at the office, got caught, one punch can change match, etc....

I would like to see Pavlik Vs Bute. Out of the fights mentioned its the only competitive fight.

Everyone of Pavlik's opponents come away mentioning his heavy hands. I'm sure Bute would also when he came to.

It would show how much Pavlik still wants to fight. Its hard to tell against the third tier guys he has been in with. If he wants it bad enough I see him hustling and working through the problems Bute would cause for him with his movement and speed. If not he follows Bute around for twelve rounds occasionally pawing his own face with his right hand.

I like to believe Kelly going to California is a sign he still wants it. Kelly is good at cutting the ring. He did well against Martinez, it just took him 4 rounds to figure out what to do once he had him trapped. I'm not saying Bute CAN'T come back. I just don't think it will happen in his next fight.
