Hello everyone, I visit this great forum to read about the fights from time to time and Selcuk Aydin" Karadeniz Firtinasi" as he is known in turkey and mini Mike Tyson around the world has just beaten Said Ouali in a tough 12 rounder in nevada. I came here to read about what people thought about the fight but did not find anything mentioned, so i joined up to see what people thought about the fight. This fight went to a 12 rd decision and was aired on ubi Tv I am a big fan of Selcuk Aydin and to be honest i thought Said Ouali would get knocked out but boy Said showed up with a great game plan. Selcuk did all the stalking and threw a phenomal amount of heavy punches at Said but he to my amazement withstood all the punches. Selcuk did not look comfortable in the centre of the ring against Said who enjoyed a decent reach advantage and started to get frustrated with Said covering up on the ropes and his punches landing mostly on the gloves. To be honest i thought with the few heavy punches and shots that Said had taken to the body that he would be hurt but to my amazement he never looked like he was in any big danger or badly hurt througout the fight. Selcuk Aydins Tyson like relentless attack on Said started to pay off when he landed a few big uppercuts on the chin of the prince. I could go on forever but the fight was orchestrated as i thought it would but i was amazed at the shots that Said had taken but showed no ill effect. It was a great win for a brave Selcuk Aydin but would also like to say what a tuff nut Said Quali is. I love Selcuk Aydin tyson like style and he is still undefeated and there is only a few of the best infront of him at the moment. I don't know who it was in the corner of Selcuk Aydin but from the tv he did not look like he is doing a good job. Quali had the Roger "Black Mamba" Mayweather so no excuses there If anybody watched the fight please give some imput if you can
I was somewhat impressed with Aydin because this was a step up for him. I can't agree with you though that Ouali had a "great game plan". He was the taller man with the longer reach, and gave up both those advantages immediately. He also inexplicably fought with one hand virtually until the final round, when he finally unveiled that straight left which buzzed Aydin badly. Aydin is wonderfully relaxed in the ring, confident, and well conditioned. But his power is overrated, his punch variety isn't very dynamic, and his style is begging to be jabbed to death. Bottom line, he needs at least another year of careful matchmaking before challenging for a world title. Someone like Collazo would shut him down completely right now.
I thought it was the best fight last night. Highly enjoyable. I was very impressed with Aydin. He kept throwing power shots with conviction from round 1 to round 12. Quali had a few moments in the fight - but for the most part he covered up and tried to weather the storm from Aydin. I would like to see him fight some of the top welterweights. Aydin's offense was impressive - but he needs to work on his head movement or else he could have some real difficulty with the elite fighters of the division. Aydin's attitude after the fight left a bit to be desired as he was still antagonistic towards Quali and his corner. I hope he keeps fighting in America. He'll make a good bad guy for anyone he fights.
Ok scrap. Aydin has a ways to go.He looks like he has a mean streak but needs to be way more refined as a power puncher. It was a tale of 2 fights really.Ouali easily outboxed him in the center of the ring but easily got thumped on when he would back into the ropes which he would over and over.
Aydin will be beaten at the elite level. Ouali refused to throw punches and simply got outworked. He rocked Aydin a couple of times. Aydin has a very favorable style for judges because he throws a lot of punches, but he really wasn't doing much in the middle of the ring. It's when he had Ouali on the ropes that he landed those combinations. I think a boxer with movement and a good jab would beat Aydin pretty easily. Aydin just seems like the kind of guy that would walk right into a shot.
Yeh thanks for the input boys I think Said Quali just showed Selcuk Aydin a lot of respect thats why he did not box him in the middle of the ring as if he did i am sure there would have been a knockout to Aydin. From what i can see i watched the fight very closely he was throwing a few punches then letting himself get backed up on the ropes. I believe that was his game plan from the start, as he was defending really well appart from some decent body shots and a couple of big uppercuts that hit home from Aydin, his chin was buried in his tight guard throughout the 12 round fight. I have to give it to him though not alot of people have survived Aydins heavy hitting. Couple fights ago the russian president called the trainer of the fighter that had been knocked out by Aydin as the russian fighter had never been knocked out in 324 previous am fights and about 25 or so pro bouts Vladimir Putin thought it was a joke,that fighter was knocked out unconcience by Aydin. Aydin hits very hard and is in very good shape he reminds me of a Kostya Tszu as i watched him train at the fitzroy all star gym a long time ago on the heavy bag. I wish he slipped punches like Kostya though he simply at the moment does not have the head movement, Kostya Tszu had beautiful instinct for distance. At the moment i would agree that he is not polished enough to beat Berto but stands a punchers chance always against anybody. All the great little man can do is keep fighting and at the moment no one has beaten him. I have to say before i go that someone mentioned about his attitude i say there is no need for arrogance after the fight and if he keeps going the way he is he won't get a lot of support from the states except for die hard fans etc.
haha yea man i noticed that too holy ****. Aydin seems 1 dimensional to me. He just keeps coming at you, i'm pretty sure he didnt land a jab the whole night, just fed Quali uppercuts and hooks. He clearer doesn't stand a chance against Berto IMO

good scrap. Aydin is hittable. You could tell when ouali finally decided to throw some straight punches in the final round that Aydin was a shaken a bit. He needs to work on avoiding straight shots. I had no clue why Ouali kept allowing himself to be pressed on the ropes. Aydin has some pretty good hand speed, throws a nice mix of punches. I was impressed by him, but truthfully I dont think he'll be able to beat the class of his division.
