PBF and Calzaghe are the common targets for the haters but what about the likes of Vitali? Vitali has one of the worst resumes i have ever seen for a fighter regarded so highly.
Vitali is not regarded that highly at all. If anything Vitali's record is deceptive in that it makes him out to be a worse fighter than he actually is. People bash Calzaghe and PBF's record because it can make them appear to be better than they actually are.
He is on here but i agree he isn't by any boxing fan with a brain and knowledge of the sport. Vitali beat Lennox Lewis remember, he was winning at the time of the stoppage, the famous ESB huggers quote, his biggest wins were Herbie Hide, Danny Williams and an old Corrie Sanders not very good at all.
The only thing special about Vitali is that both of his losses came with some type of controversy, as well having the highest KO ratio by any heavyweight champ.
Except he's not regarded as highly as those two guys. But his resume is weak as well. He has gotten a lot of ****, but since he;s out of the pic, no need to really discuss him anymore.
Selective resume bashing is no worse than selective resume nuthugging. Example; PBF gets lot's of credit for beating fighters like G. Hernandez and Gatti but those are usually treated as throwaway fights on DLH's resume!
He's also been knocked out by 3 journeymen, and has touched the canvas more times than Picasso's paint brush, not to mention his proven lack of toughness when things hard.
I actually think Wlad's resume is underrated. With a lack of huge mainstream names out there, he's done the next best thing- which is taking on nearly every style of opponent and winning most of the time- Southpaws, counterpunchers, swarmers, sluggers, slick defenders, veterans and prospects- short of having a true defining win over a rival with a name everyone knows (and would respect), he really doesn't have many holes there.
